Here's an interesting link to Baseball-Reference.com.

Who would you put in the Hall of Fame from this list of candidates?
My picks:
Dave Concepcion - invented the "Astro Turf shortstop." Made all the plays Ozzie Smith did, but with less flair. Also had decent hitting statistics in an era where shortstops were "all glove, no hit."
Tommy John - reinvented himself after major elbow surgery and went on to a long and successful career.
Ted Simmons - overshadowed by Bench and Fisk, but still a great catcher and switch hitter.

Cub Ron Santo passed away today. This is someone who should be in the Hall of Fame!
He and Brooks Robinson were the best at their postion in their generation. Difference IMO was Brooks played and won a World Series and Santo never got to the playoffs.

If Concepcion gets in and makes it him and Ozzie Smith BOTH in before Alan Trammell, then the HOF will officially be the biggest joke ever to me.

I certainly agree that Trammell belongs in the Hall. However, I don't know if he is eligible for the veterans committee yet. I think he will make it reasonably soon. It is a shame that Concepcion didn't make it in his first 15 years of eligibility. I'm not sure he will ever get the necessary votes from the verterans committee.

The need to get Peter Edward Rose in before he dies. It's a freekin' disgrace. He is the Hit King for cryin' out loud. Probably Dale Murphy too. For about an 8 year span he was one of the top 5 players in baseball.

Dale Murphy is still on the "regular" ballot.
The votes are in and the only selection by the veterans committee is Pat Gillick, receiving votes on 81.3% of the ballots (75% required for induction). Marvin Miller came close, with 68.8%. Dave Concepcion received exactly 50%. Nobody else on the list reached 50%.

Concepcion's chances were obviously dashed by the crop of talented shortstops that came after him. even Barry Larkin's number eclipse what Davey had done.
