Astute analysis.
OH being behind 20 minutes from time and conceding 2 goals to Riverdale was surprising.
Ottoville beating FJ is hardly a shocker.
Sets up an interesting game. It's about as contrasting styles as you'll see.

Just to remind some people on here, Riverdale was without their top player (Jon Grant) for almost the entire season. Jon was able to return just a few games ago, and I have to imagine that he was not yet able to return to his previous form. However, I'm sure it was a boost for the Falcons. So...while Ottoville did beat Riverdale 6-0 earlier in the season, it was without Jon Grant playing, AND I'm sure our team was still in the process of dealing with "how do we adjust to playing without Jon?". Since that time, Riverdale has had to make those adjustments...and was able to welcome him back onto the playing field. So, I'm sure that we gave Ottawa Hills a much better game than we did Ottoville.
What I'm trying to say is...don't try to compare a 6-0 defeat to Ottoville and a 3-2 defeat to Ottawa Hills and automatically declare Ottoville superior.

Mansfield was up 2-0 at half and they scored with about 5 left to play. Then they scored again about 2 minutes later. The second half mansfield scored about the 33th minute mark and it looked as if it was gonna be an ugly game. Mansfield scored again at about the 20 minute mark. I was worried VB wasnt even gonna score but they didnt give up. Josh Roberts attracted a pk for vb with about 13 left and Andrew Shroll scored off of it. Then with about 8 minutes left Shroll scored on a free kick. Then about 2 minutes later Shroll passed to Roberts for a 3rd goal. The other team was subbing like crazy, very panicy. But with about 2 minutes to go mansfield had a goood hold on the ball and vb didnt get a chance left.
All in the refs werent that good and werent calling anything on either side of the ball. Great season though by the black knights

I don't believe any tournament games should be played on a field with such a problem, especially a district final. I know both teams had to play on the field, but I don't think the field should be a detriment to either team. Thank goodness no other players got hurt their yesterday.

I never said Ottoville was superior just because of the scores. In fact, I believe OH has the advantage in all aspects except d-fense. The point is that if you consider Ottoville and Riverdale the same, then Ottoville has a better chance than even I originally thought because I still consider o-ville better than Riverdale If O-ville can improve their passing game and keep OH off the scoreboard, chances will come aplenty for Turnwald, Pohlman, Beining, etc.

Small schools sure can compete. Kalida has been to the state tourney twice, FJ once and I believe VB did as well. Heck, Kalida's had soccer for what 20 years and Ottoville found ways to beat them in the tourney.
Honestly, OH was a nothing program till very recently. Before that MVCD and Mansfield Christian were the better teams from up north.
No doubt Ottoville's athletes are better than OHs, but OH has better soccer players. Ottoville is very opportunistic, having been 6 minutes from defeat vs OG then holding off a better Kalida team in PKs. Ottoville has shown great character grabbing moments of brilliance that decide close tourney games. Successful teams need a lucky bounce or two during a tourney run.
I would not be surprised if Ottoville won this game.
