Lebron you think next year og baseball will be 17-5.....or so......the WBL is loaded with young talented pitchers and players.....I am not sold on the pitching for og. Not saying that it will not be good, but they are young and inexperienced. Take a look at the mlb...look at the teams that win, their pitching is very good....and I think OG's pitching is a couple years away no matter who is the coach!

Ya you may be right Cake with the pitching. But next year they will have expierence, dont take my word for this, but i dont think any seniors started towards the end of the season. And i heard that over in Glandorf they may be getting an indoor batting cage. I was wrong saying they would go 17-5 but i wouldnt doubt they'll be far from that

So it is the coaches fault that they didn't have experience this year. OG was young and inexperienced. I love blaming that on the coach. Now next year since coach meyers gave the young kids experience the new coach will be wonderful because they have matured and they are playing better.

Is the new candidate who is a former player and currently employed at a BVC school an administator?

I think Coach Meyers has done a fine job at O-G and will not be forgotten whenever you think of O-G baseball. Things didnt start getting bad untill the last couple years. Congradulations on a Great Career at O-G.

Bron,
I think you are mistaken when you say things didn't start getting bad until a few years ago........Mr. Myers certainly loved his job and his kids..........in the end he did what was best for everyone involved......the RocketCorner wishes him the best of luck in the future.......(maybe now he can devote more time scouting for the Cincinnati Reds, as they could use his help smile.gif ).........

Falcon,
I'm not sure he is an administrator, unless you are thinking of former Miller City basketball coach Denny Recker wink.gif .............zooooooom

I am sure you people are talking about Ted Miller's boy who is coaching at McComb. He was an OG grad.

Noresurk,

you also must be reading the tea leaves............that name has come up in Stinkys the past 3 weeks, although Big Ed thinks OG should take Brooks cool.gif .........I think that the BVC connection could be a good one, and would even be better if the elder would come along for the ride............zoooom

I think Mr Ted Miller himself should take over the team...He was a great coach and I personally liked the guy...

What if we (OG) had the chance to hire a coach that has the following experience 1) Has been an Asst. Coach for the Lima Locos (College All Stars) 2) Has been a past Legion Mgr./Coach 3) Has coached at the Pony and Little League Level 4)Has played in the Minor Leagues for 2 different Professional teams 5) Has teaching degree with past high school coaching experience 6)Currently is an Asst Head Coach of a traveling NW Ohio All Star team that competes throughout the Midwest (Currently ranked #3 nationally in its age group. 7) Currently works with Area Coaches and Athletic Directors in NW Ohio. 8)Has been a past member of OG WBL Championship 9) Was a member of OG's last team to qualify for the State Tourney. 10) Currently works with area Schools athletes and runs fitness training programs before and after school 11) Lives and trains young baseball players 24/7 year around and is a total student of the game. 12) Possibly has a FLEXABLE enough Work Schedule, that would allow him to be around to Coach Varsity Baseball at OG. 13) Currently looking to move into the OG School System (house is for sale). 14)Finally, he is a Highly motivated individual that is full of ENERGY when it comes to coaching baseball. **I sincerely believe this individual could be drafted into coaching if the right people would approach him. I have never heard him mention that he was interested....but I sincerely believe he would consider accepting the position if asked.

That name should surely get some kids to go out I would think. I know I would want to play for a former big league pitcher and see what he knows his first year.

Byrontribe, I do not know that the admin. would ask this person. Not sure how many people you would need to try and coerce this person into coaching. Good luck with your situation over there. See you at the Social if you are who I think you are.

Mr. ByronTribe,
I don't think you'll see that person's name in the final. The current AD and this gentleman are like water & oil. They don't exactly mix! At the meeting the administration held with the 35-40 parents a couple of weeks back, one thing was made abundantly clear. The AD would be making the recommendation, not the parents!! Although I do remember the last position filled wasn't who he recommended either.
I think I'm of the same agreement as the others. The BVC connection, or the Kalida connection. Both would be solid choices, with little downside.

Big Kahuna,
the ball is gonna drop this Tuesday night at the monthly school board meeting..........their voices have been heard, I've heard smile.gif ............the very, very, very early frontrunner is a former OG grad, who if they could find him a teaching job would be here in a jiffy..........zoooom

Almost 4 months to the day, the OG school board will announce that the next baseball coach at Ottawa Glandorf is the one who the Rocketman recommended way back when...........good luck to Mr. Miller and his new coaching staff............. wink.gif you could see an older, more distinguished looking gentleman helping his son also..........zooooooom
