In my opinion, I think Kalida has the better defense and Ottoville has the better offense and better bench. It will be an interesting 80 minutes !

- What retarded formation does Ottoville play? 2-2-4-2? 2-2-2-2-2? It gave Kalida way to much space to work with, especially on the outside and does not support the attack very effectively.
- Kalida was clearly the better side and the better side won.
- Ottoville cannot possess the ball against pressure, Kalida can.
- Ottoville's helter skelter offense is great against poor opponents, but not effective against a disciplined defense that keeps its shape. I don't think they had a shot on goal (unless you generously count free kicks knocked in the box from 40 yards out).
- Ottoville's transition to offense from turnovers at midfield is dangerous if your defense is not disciplined because of Ottoville's speed at forward.
- A possible rematch in the tourney will be a entertaining game.
- Friday night PCL games should try and get 3 officials.

Dkusma,
Undefeated is undefeated. I don't know how good Ottoville's schedule is, but they had to be doing something right with their defense or alignment prior to last night. The paper said shots on goal were 6 to 5 so it couldn't have been as bad as what you make it seem. Anyhow this keeps Kalida undefeated for the Titans next week so let's see a big crowd next Saturday night at Glandorf, blue crew !!

The game lived up to the billing. Ottoville outplayed Kalida in the first half. Kalida turned the tide in the 2nd half. Defensive struggle with only a couple of scoring chances for each team. And as dkusma has pointed out in a previous post, sometimes the better team doesn't always win in soccer.
Possible rematch in tourney ? ? ? ?

Not all undefeated are created equal.
It was as bad as I said.
I would not be a stretch to say, if OG played Ottoville's schedule they would have a pretty gaudy record. That being said, I do think Ottoville's side is much stronger than OGs this year.
The Kalida-OG game is always and entertaining prelude to the tourney.

Maybe you were watching the JV game? Having the run of play for the first 10 minutes does not equal outplaying a team for the first half.
True, the better side does not always win, but in Friday night's case clearly the better side did win.
I would hate to predict a rematch in the tourney given Kalida's recent displays in the sectional, but it would be a very fun game to watch.

No, i'm talking varsity, 6 shots on goal to 5 shots on goal hardly indicates dominate play either way. I'm not sure how you could think otherwise. Maybe you're not quite the expert that you think you are.
I'm done with this topic till tourney. I'll await your insight then.

Was the game played on Kalida's field? Ottoville plays on a small field, which make their formations look "retarded" on the full size fields. Hurts their offense when they can't score off of throw-ins. That's why they don't go far in tournament.
