Ottoville 3-0 (beat Van Wert 1-0, beat Riverdale 6-0, beat Bryan 4-1)
Lima Temple Christian 3-0 (beat LCC 4-1, beat Wapak 3-0, beat St. Mary's 2-0)
Continental 1-0-1 (beat Spencerville 7-0, drew Defiance 2-2)
Ottawa Glandorf 2-0-1 (beat Wauseon 2-0, drew Napoleon 1-1, beat Ft Jennings 3-0)
Kalida 1-0-2 (beat Wapak 1-0, drew Van Buren 0-0, drew Shawnee 0-0)
Cory Rawson 1-0 (beat Pandora Gilboa 4-2)

OK, I've dropped some teams with one loss...debated on keeping LB because Lake returns a strong team (seen them first-hand) that will likely be DII Regionalist & that's why they were still up. No bias from me here...if they keep getting results like they have they'll be back on the board.

I'm trying to keep the waters clear right now & as a poll contributor, undefeated is undefeated regardless if some think early wins are against weaker teams (you can only play the teams in front of you). I also dropped O-H for right now even though a loss to Anthony Wayne, especially a close one, sits pretty darn good with me but like I said earlier trying to keep the waters clear. These teams with losses to strong teams will pop back up again as the season sorts itself out.

As a poll contributor I would think that you want to have the strongest teams up there period. A close and competitive loss against a strong DI team like AW should mean more than a win against a weak DIII team like say Pandora Gilboa or Spencerville. I do agree that comparing schedules can be subjective (no one will begrudge a little common sense there) and the cream will rise to the top.

You'd have to keep OHills for the quality loss.
Defiance is really down, so I dont know if that helps Continental's argument.
Cory only beating PG 4-2 is not impressive.

I dont know how much OG brings back, but sounds like they will be good once again.

Ottoville is always a mystery. They used to have size, but talent and coaching was an issue. Talent has been there now for a few years and the coaching came into play as well. Now, to put all three together for a long run?

Ottawa Hills needs to come down and play some teams in Limaland. Ive been saying this for years.....

Just some random thoughts...

I second that. OH has quite a few historically strong programs to choose from including former state qualifiers Shawnee, OG, Kalida and they play MVCD, Toledo Christian and Emmanuel Baptist twice each year. Would give a nice litmus test wouldn't it?

OH plays those teams twice because they are in their league. The league mandates that.

formercoach...what do u mean ottoville hasnt had much talent and coaching in the last couple years? i believe in the last 4 years or so the coaching is great, the talent definitely there and the size hasnt been 2 bad..maybe ur thinkin basketball? cuz ya theres not much size there but if u r meaning soccer than lets think..ottoville has made it 2 districts the last 3 years and knocked off the favorites kalida the last 3 years, made it 2 regionals 2 yeas ago which then lost 2 the eventual state champs ottawa hills and just last year lost 2 a good og team that move down 2 division 3 which compared 2 most is a really big d3 but they made it 2 regionals...plus ottovilles jv team only lost 3 games in the last 3 years, so id say the talent has and still is there as well as great coaching definitely has contributed 2 that success so not sure y u think coaching has been an issue? not sure if u knew all that so i wanted 2 specify that...and size is not that important 2 hav in soccer its nice 2 hav which ottoville has sorta but teams in any sport can hav success without it

Um, reread my post. I actually state that Ottoville HAS been good for the last few years as has their coaching. I didnt knock them at all. I am well aware of what they have done, HENCE me giving them props.

Sweet Jesus, that WAS a hard post to decipher. And size DOES matter in soccer, but it is not the end-all.

dkusma, agreed on your points earlier, so I'll put OH & LB back on (LB won again last night). It's only a reference exercise for myself & hopefully other coaches...let them decide.

Ottoville 4-0 (beat Van Wert 1-0, beat Riverdale 6-0, beat Bryan 4-1, beat Van BUren 2-1)
Lima Temple Christian 3-0 (beat LCC 4-1, beat Wapak 3-0, beat St. Mary's 2-0)
Continental 1-0-1 (beat Spencerville 7-0, drew Defiance 2-2)
Ottawa Glandorf 2-0-1 (beat Wauseon 2-0, drew Napoleon 1-1, beat Ft Jennings 3-0)
Kalida 1-0-2 (beat Wapak 1-0, drew Van Buren 0-0, drew Shawnee 0-0)
Cory Rawson 1-0 (beat Pandora Gilboa 4-2)
Ottawa Hills 1-1 (lost to Anthony Wayne 2-3, beat DII Maumee 3-1)
Liberty Benton 3-1-1 (beat Riverdale 3-0, lost to Lake 1-4, beat VB 3-1, drew Eastwood 3-3, beat Mohawk 7-0)
Miller City 3-1 (beat Ada 4-3, beat New Knoxville 2-0, lost to Celina 2-5, beat Pettisville 2-1)

Oh, woe to my Wildcats, we tie again!

Kalida 0
Shawnee 0

Another night where we simply try to run everyone over going to goal. Forget soccer, we keep playing the rockem-sockem style instead of using any gamesmanship! Every year we bemoan our inability to score, but we don't change! We thump everyone who makes a run on our goal (and this usually gives us a shut-out), but we don't establish an offense, or a strategy. Instead, we simply sprint 5-6 players at our opponents goal and hope we score!

How many cards were issued tonight? 7 maybe? We have the talent to play soccer, but we don't! We can pulverize most smaller teams (smaller in stature) on our schedule and win up to 75-80% of our games this way. But, come playoffs, Ottoville passes around us, scores, and we lose. That's the reality of it! We need to revamp our style. Bring in some offensive assistant coaches and start playing tactical soccer. Our games look like a track meet mixed with onside kicks from football.

We have the talent, we have the athletes, and we have the community support! But, can we change???

Be blunt, be honest, I/we can take it..........

Possibly you should look at the game and the HS rules to resolve your discomfort, there's not much scoring going on anywhere. A 2-0 victory in soccer is a butt whippin.
It's not the coaching style, it's the game!!!

my bad on the posting guys! i was on my cell as u could probably tell and my phone wasnt allowin 2 do certain things so i got lazy and used numbers for certain words lol my bad! anyways former coach my attentions were not meant 2 slam what u said and if so thats my bad again! i probably did misread ur post! in my opinion tho ottoville has had the talent as far as i can remember ever since their program started they hav always had a winning season and coached well i know u said last couple yrs but im just adding to what u said ive been to enough games now that i am convinced that their program is in the right direction...but i will say this we all hav our opinions and formercoach the only thing ill argue with is size is nice to have but not important 2 me id rather hav speed and endurance which the team i coach doesnt hav much size but is conditioned well and very successful if u hav a team that has size speed and endurance than thats great! u may argue with that formercoach and its ok cuz i respect ur opinion! once again my bad on my last post!

My opinion, based mostly on who I've seen.

Kalida - big and physical
Ottoville - based on record, haven't seen them
Ottawa Hills - always tough, well played soccer
Lima Temple - based on record, haven't seen them
Swanton - two big wins (Bryan, Oregon Clay)
Ottawa Glandorf - traditionally strong and haven't proven otherwise

^ I agree...Ottawa hills seems 2 hav a solid team every year and should b the team to beat but i havnt seen them play yet this year...ottoville i hav an edge over kalida, ottov. returns all except 2 players last year and they r more offensively sound. kalida is physical and solid defensively, but only scoring 1 goal first 3 games might cause some wonders bout their offense, liberty benton i heard has been movin the ball well, according to their record they r off to a good start but havnt seen them play and temple also solid offensively and startin off well but havnt seen them play yet either and OG lost alot last year but startin off well this season...should b a fun and exciting season!

I have seen a few teams this year -- so I will comment on those teams only:

1. Ottoville - fast, athletic, furious attacking team-especially early in the game
2. Van Buren - fast, skilled, opportunistic
3. Kalida - big, fast, athletic, many "man-sized" players
4. Temple - fast, skilled & athletic
5. New Knoxville - athletic, well coached, looks like a rebuilding year
