Jammin' out on this earliy Monday morming to some Troggs, New Vaudville Band & Herman's Hermits & it got me to-a-thinking (scary!...I know!!!! rolleyes.gif ) how many UK/British groups I love & wondered what ya'll like.

Besides the older (ancient <----- ...sorry adoggie!!) groups I've already listed, there are many new British artists I love....Seems we've had an influx of Britiansh artists once again the last few years.....A few that are in my playlist are Adele, Duffy & Lily Allen. (i know i have many more, but, feeling lazy...lol)

So, who ya like?

Don't have many recent one that come to mind, but Tears For Fears and Oasis was good. (But I think that is because they are influenced by the un-named group that starts with B' and inds in 'eatles. Also, ALL Metal and Rock bands rip off Led Zeppelin so of course them too.

does anyone remember a group that I beleive was British but could have been American. They really only one 1 hit (I think) and the video was
mostly filmed on a street corner. There was alot of foot smacking in the video....It was kind of punk rock new wave music. Tt was a boy girl band and the lead singer had long black hair. Everyone
in the group wore really funky clothes that was most mix matched. I loved the song but just can't remember the groups name or the song.
It was in the top 5 some where around the early to mid 80's.

I thought "Men At Work" was Australian.

For me, this is pretty simple.

Led Zeppelin
Beatles
The Who
Cream
Jimi Hendrix
Rolling Stones
Pink Floyd
Joe Cocker

Oasis, FABULOUS!!!
"Slip inside the eye of your mind
Don't you know you might find
A better place to play
You said that you'd never been
But all the things that you've seen
Will slowly fade away

So I start a revolution from my bed
'Cause you said the Brains I had went to my head
Step outside the summertime's in bloom
Stand up beside the fireplace
Take that look from off your face
You ain't ever gonna burn my heart out "

I do occasionally mess up on music but this isn't one of them. Jimi is from the US but moved to London. This is where he formed the Jimi Hendrix Experience. If it weren't for the blues movement in England (which spurned the British Invasion to the US), we may have never known who Jimi Hendrix was. He's as much a part of the British Invasion as the Beatles.

Music is all a personal taste. I'm not a real big fan of the Stones anymore either but there are a few of their songs I still love. Musically, they're outstanding. Songs are just a little "old" to me.

"Fire" by Jimi Hendrix is just such a great song to me. Killer bass line, fast paced & energetic drumming, and Jimi killin' the 6 strings. That was the song that started my liking for Hendrix and the rest after just seemed so easy to listen to.

Your lack of enthusiasm for the Beatles is hard for me to understand. But that's just me. I know a lot of people that aren't big fans so you're not alone. I just don't understand it. Their harmonies on almost every song is a beautiful thing.

Here's a few I think about anyone could listen to:

I've recently had it put to me quite simply, & I think, fairly accurately; "I've found that those that prefer The Beatles aren't Stones fans, & vise-versa" ....
Since I was mentioned that, I've found it quite true in makimg comparisons.... That was a very insightful man, apparently!!! rolleyes.gif laugh.gif

Yes, The Eurythmics were unique. Missonary Man was a messmerising video. How about the Cranberries? I think they might be Irish but there sound is unique. And thinking of Irish made me think of Enya (unique also).

As for the Beatles and the Stones, I always liked the Beatles more, but I've heard songs from both groups for so many years over and over that I am tired of both.
