Just read in today's paper where the family of Tarika Wilson will receive $2.5 million in cash......there is no amount of money you can put on a life, but I still think there are many unanswered questions involving this unfortunate incident.....really hard to believe!!!!!

i would volunteer to set up my family and their families for life. like winning a lottery, i guarantee the $$$ will be gone by the time they hit 21 years old, unless there is a provision in the agreement that they dont get the mula before that time.

LPD was not involved. News said the insurance company settled without consulting LPD. It's sad that she died, but it was an accident. If she was in a drug house and she was innocent, she should have laid on the floor and complied with police orders. She was shot because she was a moving target in a raided drug house. That's why our insurnace rates are so high folks

Well, it should be put into a trust fund for the surviving children ONLY, with a reasonable monthly allowance given out to whoever must care for them. My guess is when the kid with the missing finger becomes an adult, he will think that a finger is a good trade for 2.5 million. (I know I would in a heartbeat) Now I realize he lost his mother, but he is so young he won't remember any of this including her. Besides, he was being raised in a drug house, so maybe growing up with an aunt or grandma will be better for him anyway.

I have not been following the local news lately at all, so I'm guessing this was most likely a 'wrongful death' lawsuit???

If this is the case, I don't see how & I'm too whipped to try to expalin myself right now until I get some sleep.....My 'wow' is because of w/e the case charges ended up being, I can't believe they were awarded a judgement....... no.gif

I know we have a few lawyers here...Not sure which specific areas they specialize in, but, perhaps they can explain a li'l for us.....

I don't care if she was allowing drug activity to go on in her house, that still doesn't mean it is right for the police to forcibly enter the home and shoot an unarmed woman holding a child.

Maybe the cops should have done some surveillance and entered the home during the day when the children were not home and conducted their drug raid then. Or maybe they could have knocked, entered the home peacefully and told the residents of the home to vacate it so they could do a search.

Police charging into homes is just as wrong as some loser mixing up drugs in the basement with the intent to sell. There are a ton of drug houses in Lima, does that mean the police should be able to break into every house in town and start shooting just to curtail drug use?

for that matter there are more than a few meth labs in house trailers in rural Van Wert and Paulding counties, should cops enter those houses and shoot first and ask questions later, also?

knock----knock

who's there?

LPD, and we want to check your house as we heard you are selling drugs

Wait a minute, while I tell my boyfriend to flush the stuff down the toilet, and then give him an avenue for escape

OK, but in 15 minutes, we are coming in with loaded guns a blazing. Is that enough time.

I think so, but in 14 minutes I will be grabbing my one child and hi tailing it.

Sounds good. 15 minutes it is. oh, you don't have to grab the youngster. Just lie down on the floor, and please do not make any threatening gestures that would give us the wrong impression. Do you usnderstand.

I think so.

Cool.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Or,

How bout grabbing that child and using it as a shield while you search for your cell phone to call 911 because the cops are there to stop your illegal drug operation? Yes, those big bad boyz with the badges did say put your hands up, up in the air, but since when do we have to listen to them. Yes, as a loving role model parent I would most certianly disobey the boys with the guns and pick up the young one because with the lights out they can most certainly see I'm holding the child right in front of my body.

Oh yeah, and let's not forget to let our pet pit bulls out to attack those nasty police officiers that are trying to stop hard working citizens from selling drugs to 11, 12, and 13 year old kids in the wonderful city of Lima.

These people are professionals. I don't think we have the right to tell them how to do their job. They know better than we do. There may have been an honest mistake made, but doing search and siezures like this has taken a TON of drugs off the streets. They can't be pussies about it and ask to enter the home. That's rediculous. Maybe the "parents" weren't ever alone without the kids for the police to do their raid. As much as these worthless idiots endangered their own kids, the cops coming in was the least of their worries. The kids are all better off now because of that incident.

The bottom line is this, the parents of these children put those kids in a dangerous situation. Parents with moral values think of the children first and foremost. They do not get involved in illegal activities that put themselves and their child in harms way. It is my honest belief that if this incident had never happened sooner or later something else bad was going to happen with this type of lifestyle. Being able to produce a baby does not make someone a man or a woman. Being able to feed, care, love, and instill good moral beliefs in a child, now we're talking.

Obviously I am in the minority on this one...............I will admit, that is no way to raise a family (around drugs, among other things). But the police work done in this case was sloppy, to say the least. Maybe do a little more homework and try to catch the guy during the day when children weren't home. Or stake out the house and try to arrest the guy when he was not in the home. The children in the house were not guilty of any crime, and now there mom is gone.

I will keep my mouth shut about this issue from now on.
