A New Era Begins!

I wonder how other coaches are able to improve their teams while we continue to flounder with our coaches and draft choices. The Broncos hire an offensive coach, trade their ProBowl QB and are 3-0 with a great defense. The Jets hire a defensive coach, draft Mark Sanchez and are the talk of the NFL. The perenally bad Falcons and Dolphins have changed coaches and Qb's and are successful. The Ravens hire a new coach and rookie QB and they are somewhat better than us. The Steelers hire a new coach and get a new QB and win two SuperBowls. The 49ers hire a new coach and are off to a great start. I could go on.
We are Eric Mangenious, as our owner was obviously fooled by the name, hiring him right off before anyone else needing a coach found one. Oh by the way I forgot Jim Schwartz of the Lions, which team do you like better them or us. Mangini may have a plan which we havent before but is it really a good plan? Not looking like it. How can we have such bad talent? Other teams seem to be able to overcome these things.
We trade our picks and pass on Sanchez to get a center. We trade our draft picks to pick up a WR in the second round who has been inactive for the last two weeks. We pass on obvious playmakers like Ray Maleuga(sp), when we obvously need defense more than two second round WR's who dont even play on this terrible team.
We make Brady Quinn our QB, who should be ready to play after watching for two seasons. He is a big strong smart kid but like yesterday goes 6-8 for 34 yards. What is that? He can't throw the ball downfield? Why are we scared to throw the ball? Other rookies don't seem to have that problem. We bring in our other QB who was a alleged Pro Bowler two years ago. He comes in and throws 3 INT's in one half of football, throwing the ball downfield. We call for a QB sneak on first down at the 50? What is going on? What happens when you come to Cleveland that instantly makes you inept?
First off we need a new owner. One who feels like we do. Not one who lives in England and likes Futbol more than football. Until then I don't think this will ever change. Mangini......will not work for this team. Former NE coaches are not Bill Belicheck we should have already known this. He has shown his intelligent he really is with his QB derby debacle and his handling of the team.
I was the first to say that Romeo was too soft and had no clue. We needed discipline and football 101. We now have a coach who is the complete opposite extreme and who will suffocate the life from this team.. Can we please someday find a middle ground. Why any good coach or free agent would ever come to Cleveland is easily understood and until the owner sells the team I dont see any future.
I will continue to root for my team but I dont see a win on the schedule this year. At Kansas City, At Detroit, and Oakland at home would be our only reasonable expectation to be competitive and I like all those teams talent at this point better. Maybe if Oakland quits by week 15 our quitters will have a home field advantage that will produce a victory.

Going into Baltimore with the most anemic offense in the NFL, you knew the Browns were in danger of going 0-3 for the season. But even the most cynical Browns-watcher could not have expected the debacleization that occurred. Cleveland started with Brady Quinn(notes) throwing six completions in eight attempts for 34 yards (way to air it out!), no touchdowns and one interception. But with nothing going on, Eric Mangini decided to replace Quinn with Derek Anderson(notes), figuring it couldn't get any worse.
Wrong-o.
In one half of football. Anderson went 11-of-19 for 92 yards, no touchdowns, and THREE picks. He also took a sack in a rare Browns red zone play, when he ambled around, trying to avoid pressure, and fell down. Haloti Ngata(notes) thanked him for the free sack. Anderson was throwing pop flies into stacked coverage in a display of horribleness the likes of which you will rarely see. Baltimore destroyed Cleveland, 34-3. What are the Browns to do?
At this point, I think it's best to just put returner/receiver/former college quarterback Josh Cribbs behind center on every play. The Browns are at their most dynamic offensively with Cribbs in the shotgun, running their "Flash" package (their version of the Wildcat), and it isn't as if there's anyone qualified to throw Cribbs, or Braylon Edwards(notes), or anyone else, the ball. If the Browns hope to be competitive at all, they should scrap the traditional offense altogether and go option-read all the way. Or, they can alternate between two quarterback disasters in perpetuity, until the latest Belichick disciple is fired and they start this nightmare all over again.
Browns fans, you deserve better than this.
From Gumshoe.....Things are so bad that I have picked up the Bengals defense this week in my Fantasy Football League!

Last season, the Browns had the better record in the 2nd meeting of the teams and lost. In the first meeting, the Bengals were expected to win at home, yet lost.
In 2007, the Browns lost a shot at the playoffs to the Bengals in the 2nd meeting. In the first meeting, the Bengals befuddled the world by losing to the Browns who, in the week prior, had replaced their starting QB and then traded him!
Lets see what this Sunday brings.
I guess I was just trying to provide a glimmer of hope to Browns fans. Be warned, however, this glimmer cannot be amplified by use of mirrors.

Sporting News staff reports
Browns wide receiver Braylon Edwards. The Cleveland Browns have reportedly traded wide receiver Braylon Edwards to the New York Jets, according to a tweet posted by ESPN.com's Adam Schefter at 8:16 a.m. ET.
Terms have not been disclosed.
According to a tweet posted by FoxSports.com's Jay Glazer, the Browns get Jets WR Chansi Stuckey, LB Justin Trusnik and two undisclosed draft picks in the deal.
A league source tells Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk.com that the Jets acquired Edwards without signing him to a new contract.
Edwards has been in the news the past couple of days following allegations that he assaulted a Cleveland man at a Cleveland-area night club early Monday morning.
You don't punch a friend of LeBron's and get to stay in town! Go to NY and follow in Plex's footsteps you big loser, Michigan man!
ps Justin Trusnik played at ONU and is a top notch special teams player! I'll take him all day over POS's like Edwards.

Lets pretend for a moment that Braylon Edwards was not a lockerroom cancer. Lets pretend for a moment that he caught more passes than he dropped. Lets pretend for a minute that he didn't create more problems than he was worth. Edwards was in the last year of his 5 year contract and was not going to resign with the Browns after this year. He made comments that he wanted to leave and his diva status did not fit in Cleveland. The Browns wanted to trade him prior to the draft but couldnt pull the trigger when Stalworth got in trouble. With the trade deadline looming on October 20th, the Browns were staged to get nothing out of this former #1 draft pick.
The Browns obviously aren't going to the playoffs anytime soon and Edwards was leaving after this season, so......the fact that we got a complementary young WR with some talent, a special teams stud from the Cleveland area and two draft picks, likely a 3rd and 4th rounder next year, I think we made out like bandits. Now add the fact that Edwards brought nothing to the table and hasn't but for one year in the course of that huge contract, I couldn't be happier.
The TV talking heads are mixed in their opinions of this trade, some thinking the Browns were dumb to let such a talent go for so little but given the circumstances of the contract, the trade deadline and the fact that others were calling for Edwards outright release after this recent incident and no catches the game before, this trade was a steal on our part.
Edwards may become an instant star in New York and play the way all the talking heads believe he should and the Jets may make the playoffs and go to the superbowl with such a great receiver for Sanchez to throw to. I really dont care one way or the other but I know we got two quality players and two draft picks for a prima donna butthead, and prior to yesterday, we were going to continue to have to watch him suck, watch him leave and get nothing in return for all the money and time we invested in this true Cleveland Clown.

I have said all along you know what you get in DA. Consistantly Inconsistant. Balls thrown behind receivers, INT's and an occasional beauty that hits the mark 30 yards down field. Blowing winds in Buffalo mean blowing QB in Buffalo though.
Could we really be any worse just letting Josh Cribbs play QB? A win is a win is a win and unlike three other teams we are off the schnied!
2-14 a possibility now with Oakland at home. KC and JAX on the road, still dont see it. Everything else is beatdown city! BUT WE GOT A WIN!!!!!!!!!

Lets compare QBs since each has played 2 1/2 games:
Quinn 45-74-3 400 yds 1 td 60.8% VS Min(5-0) Den (5-0)Bal (3-2)
DA 39-84-5 384 yds 1 td 46.4% VS Bal 3-2, Cin (4-1) Buf (1-4)
I still wonder who should be our QB
