Wow... ohmy.gif that's nice you calling me a coach...got a nice ring to it... happy.gif coach OG_Patron... I like it, but I probably couldn't handle it because to many parents would tell me how to do my job tongue.gif

I was being sarcastic... biggrin.gif You know you quoted stats and when a player would "get her shot"... Obviously the coach would not respond to an arm chair quarterback like me...

But if she were listening I would say::: In my opinion when you have a young team as OG does, repition at their normal position during an actual game is the best practice there is... ( for example the 2 Frosh, they're not just Varsity they play all of the JV game and 1 of them plays all of the Varsity, wouldn't the rest of the girls like all that floor time) Those softer scheduled schools should be treated like practice, not mix it up fun time let the 5'5" girls get some kills and no blocks... You can't hit a big game: LCC, St Henry, Columbus Grove & Celina and expect top play in the front or back rows, if those are the only times they play in those positions...
We have established that OG's volleyball pool is deep, the JV and Frosh hardly ever loose, year after year... But I would like to see the Varsity girls set up to destroy the other team at the start of the match not at the end of the match... Get their oppnent down 2 games then mix it up for fun... We mix it up at the start then the coach is up yelling and screaming when we're down... You can't turn them on and off like the lights...

One more question, why does the assistant sit at the end of the bench away from the head coach???

Must have struck a nerve...!!!
You know Ruhe had that bang up night in the middle and we haven't seen her since... Verhoff and Maag split it so Kaufman can play left... What about Maag??? She hit 14 of 14 serves at Ottoville scored 10 points off of that, we gave her the "ZSportslive" player of the game & she hasn't served since... You'd think by now if the coach didn't like her serve they'd have worked to get her one, at 5'11" she's shooting down at the other side of the court, isn't she...??? laugh.gif
Talking stats, I checked "Maxpreps"... Kaufman had 12 kills on 42 attempts at St Mary's... Maag was 11 on 24 attempts, Verhoff was 5 on 13 and Recker was 3 on 6... At those rates, had Maag, Verhoff and Recker been given 42 sets their kills would have been in the 20's...??? St Mary's obviously another team that can't block, only had 2...???dry.gif
If you can't tell by now we're struggling with the logic...
"Hold em down" ... It'll be interesting when the middle gets healthy...

I don't understand why either of you are "COMPLAINING" about the O-G Varsity Vball program! Are they NOT WBL ranked? Have they NOT done well in tourny's in the past? You need to remember that this IS varsity level...not YMCA 3rd grade. She plays the girls who get the job done. If the Sen or JR. girls don't put forth the effort, they don't DESERVE to play. I think the coach is doing a great job! Could either of you do better???

I agree Vball Fan… the coach is doing a great job and the team is doing great. I wouldn't change a thing. I will be done with this post. It is apparent fusion want to stir the pot and I don’t want to be part of it. Go Ladies! Heard you had a good game Tuesday night. WBL 7-0 after tonight.

I also agree with Vball Fan and OG Parton, coach is doing a GREAT job. Another bit of information for Fusion 3.5!! The reason the "assistant" sits at the other end of the bench is to tell the girls, when they are serving, what position to serve it to on the opposing side. This is usually a spot where someone on the opposing team is NOT covering, leaving a hole. Sounds like GREAT coaching to me!?!

wow fusion 3.5 you are on a role with this topic. I hate to tell you that i have been to every game this year and i can not recall the coaches up yelling and screaming once. Raise their voice maybe a little but i have seen a whole lot worse than that. Face it they are high school kids now and thay are not always going to get what they want even though there PARENTS, think that they should, TIME TO GROW UP!!!!!!
By the way my feelings are now hurt because you called OG Patron a coach, i think i will start ranting and raving because i dont agree with it
Coach OG PATRON that does have a nice ring to it (CONGRATES COACH)

Congrats Fusion....your incessant complaining here has evidently made it back to the coaching staff. Seems a meeting was called today with all 3 teams and the issue of parents and an unidentified (obviously this one) website was addressed. Also, another parent (I assume it's another parent, but I guess there's not way to know, maybe it's also you) has complained to the coach that their daughter isn't getting enough touches. It's sad that parents of HS kids don't realize that if you're good enough, you get the ball, if you aren't, so be it, practice and get better!!!! This isn't the YMCA....equal play for everyone ends at 6th grade folks. Support the teams and the coaches and keep your complaining to yourself.

There's enough talent on that bench to win 15 on their own... Takes a coach to win 20...
As a pessimist you hope to be proven wrong not right.......

Fusion, Obviously you know nothing about what it takes to make a TEAM or to be a TEAM PLAYER! Yes, this team does have talent, but they would not be where they are today without GREAT COACHING!! Do you have any idea how many hours these coaches, especially the head coach, spend scouting other teams to make sure that these girls are up for their next battle!!! I think it's time you give it up, because anyone who really knows OG Volleyball knows that they ARE A GREAT TEAM, HAVE GREAT TALENT, and most of all, HAVE A GREAT COACH!! These are the important things that MAKE A TEAM!!!! Good luck Titan Volleyball against Van Wert and Celina!! The WBL is yours for the taking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was just brought to my attention & I would ask that everyone take a step back (or perhaps two, for some rolleyes.gif ) & exhale, because as most know here, when things get too heated & nasty, there's a need to shut down topics.....and we don't like to have to do that......

Unfortunately, there always have been & always will be the armchair QB's & with this internet age, it's the same as the old barber & coffee shop talk of ol'--just on the web now & more ppl being able to access it all at once, rather than waiting to hear it 'through the grapevine'--although, it is sad that this obsession everyone has 'knowing better than the coach' what should be done (in all sports,) & how it seems to be creating division/ havoc in TEAM programs state wide between children, parents, teams, coaches & community..... sad.gif

So, everyone, please play nice. smile.gif

One other thing......So that everyone knows.....when there's something extremely troublesome or questionable, everyone has the "report button on the post that needs addressing & that goes straight to the moderators for immediate attention. JFYI for the future.

Thanks,
slice biggrin.gif

I know what the coach is doing at the end of the bench... I'm just saying at the end of the bench, it's kinda hard to talk to the other coach...

Fusion, I think you should STOP while you are ahead. If you knew anything about volleyball, or even came to any of the games, you would see that the coaches are constantly talking. They are all "on the same page" and all know what the "game plan" is for any given team they are playing. I'm sure that all the other posters on this thread would agree that that's GREAT coaching!! I'm out of here!!!!
