How is everybody doing, Not sure how my Panthers have done so far, my Grandkids are moving to Arizona in July so I have been going to all their games and have kinda lost touch with the ACME scene.

Guess I should have posted here before that of course....Ada does not have an Acme league team.... censored.gif furious.gif I wish this is something that we (I) could change but i do not think it will in the near future. Too many other activities going on in the summer for the athletes...ie: football 7 on 7, summer basketball leagues, etc....Its a shame but a sign of the times...

Continental has the same record as Ada. 0-0. Has not had acme for four years now. To much basketball and soccer. What a shame.

I think the Putnam / Paulding district started tonight. Any results? Schedule?

Grove over Paulding 13-3, and OG wins by forfeit over Leipsic. Full slate of games Saturday and Sunday right here at Ottawa.

why did Leipsic forfeit? They were decent this spring - made it to regional semis - so what's going on there?

Basketball took their players and they could not field a team for last night.

So... in one case (Leipsic) you have a few hoopsters causing a number of kids who probably did want to play, to have to forfeit. And, in Paulding's case ... do you let the hoopsters play in your next game? It has come to the point where ACME and Legion baseball, AYBT and summer basketball, and 7-on-7s and football conditioning can't all co-exist at the smaller rural area schools.

You got that right mrc, IMHO everything going on in the summer really stretches these kids thin at smaller schools, and some kids give up on one sport for another, which really stinks.

Of course you'd like to win the tournament games, but isn't the real reason for Acme just to play more baseball....just as the reason for AYBT is to play more basketball? Obviously if there's going to be a conflict, one sport or the other will lose out....unfortunately, AYBT can only play on weekends since so many volunteers are needed and it wouldn't be feasible to play a 4 evening tournament due to travel time. I guess it's either share the kids or just have them pick one or the other for the entire summer....don't see that as being beneficial to either sport.

I wish someone had a solution for this. You could schedule the ACME tourney without playing it on the weekend, but then the kids still have basketball practice and weight lifting during the week let alone soccer or football practice and conditioning or a job. This has been a battle at the smaller schools for quite some time now. They could also move all this basketball stuff to a differant month. They could also go old school and only play the sport that is in season when it is actually its season.

Let's take the current ACME situation ... what happens to Leipsic, do they play today? Would like to know what the kids who wanted to play think. That can't be good for trying to develop a program, because it has to cause a "rift" between those who wanted to play and those who chose not to and caused them to forfeit. How many missed for Paulding? And, should they step back in to play ahead of others who showed and wanted to play ACME last night and the rest of the tournament?
