Just my thoughts on the game:
1) Fans, It is just a Jr High game... Its good to cheer on your team, but to continue to make rude comments either to the ump, players, coaches etc is uncalled for. It is a coaches job to critique the players on how they are playing during the game. Parents do that at home.
2) Unsportsmanship, BAD! Especially at Jr high level. The coaches should have taken control of their teams and told them it was wrong to laugh at any injury situtation. Also, for a player to undermind the umpire and the other team is flat out disrespectful!
3) Players, Just play the game. DOnt worry about the last call or the last inning. And please, control your actions on the field! Crying, yelling and back mouthing just shows you being cocky and rude.
This comment is not towards any particle team, This should be COMMON knowledge! It is horrible to think all this drama is happening already with 14 yr olds. Parents, coaches and fans please watch yourselves at games, you wouldn't want another thread on here about how you acted would you?

Reading these posts has made my head hurt.! I am sure Sylvan Learning Center can offer some help. But seriously, things couldn't have been as bad as some Vikes are claiming can they? As far as the pitcher from C-Town is concerned, I find it very hard to believe she would complain after every pitch. and as far as laughing at a hit batter? I have seen her hit batters before & it seemed to hurt her worse than the batter. And finally, the coach; look up the word sarcasm & you may very well find her picture there instead of a definition. Bark > Bite. That being said, there is nothing wrong with playing to win. The Spring programs @ C-Town are not real strong (with the exception of the recent success of the fastpitch team). There is a losing culture permeating the baseball program & these girls want no part of that. However, we need to keep things in perspective & show some class....EVERYBODY.

Sorry to say, but Smelly Hillbilly... you'd be suprised with the amount of complaining that was going on. Inbetween every pitch too... And with the whole playing to win, nothing is wrong with that. But a little more self control would have been very appreciated. I really dont mean to stir things up because both teams are very athletic and seem to have a good softball program going... but i believe someone needed to stand up and say 'Enough is enough' We really do NOT want this all to get outta hand. After all, this is just a game, and winning isn't everything right? huh.gif ha

Bomm, was the complaining coming from both sides or just Contnental's? The rumor mill has it that there were 40 plus walks in the game? If so, I can see why there was so much complaining; doesn't make it right however. Maybe both coaches could have talked to the ump & suggested widening the strike zone? Also, winning isn't everything but on the other hand that is why they keep score! I am old school when it comes to sports & sportsmanship & believe that when you win you do it like you've won before & when you lose act like a champion.

So what position did you play in that game softballgirl? This post sounds like it came from a jr high student. If you want the posting to stop -- why did you post? The Leipsic parent did not "CAME UP TO ANOTHER PARENT FORM C-TOWN AND STARTED YELLING AT HER...." Did you personnally witness this? Posts should not be hearsay. The coach is setting an example for everyone involved, therefore should be respectful. Her abilities as a coach have never been questioned.

My sister plays for the Leipsic team, so I have a fairly accurate depiction of what occurred at that game. Most schools have high school girls as the umpires for these games. These aren't paid professionals who will be accurate on every play. There will be mistakes. Part of the game at this age group is to take the bad calls on the chin. Under no circumstances, EVER, should a team degrade an individual to such an extreme to reduce the young lady to tears. It is completely uncalled for.
Superkids4, there is nothing wrong with trying to win. Leipsic is out there performing there best with the desire of winning as well. It is important to remember to play with good character. Harmless chatter is a part of the game but there is no place for cursing and mocking of injuries.
These girls will be competing against each other in multiple sports for years to come. It is important for all of the athletes on the field, court, track, or whatever it may be to compose themselves with dignity and respect at all times.

yeah but what school has a seventh grader at the jr. high soft ball game and i was also there so i seen what happened at continental we always have senior umps

well...since I was at the game, all I'm gonna say is it doesn't matter what they were laughing at when another player was hurt, they shouldn't be joking around and laughing at all. Also, the ump was consistent both ways. Another thing is that the coaches should stay in the dugout, they were out of the dugout complaining to the fans most of the game. And it should go without saying that the umps are paid $15 per game and most of the time it is just a high school kid. And the coaches were complaining about how loud she was, not just the calls.

overall, dispicable and disrespectful, I don't blame the girls, they should be learning in Jr. high NOT to be like this. too bad the coaches don't understand that yet. And yelling at one of the players and humiliating her in front of the entire crowd there screaming "Shut up."

But we all know how it goes, none of this matters, nothing will change and things will get worse because ppl let it go on, just like the people defending the continental coaches in this post. Good to know you are all about restoring good sportsmanship to sports.
