Many people have said, Okay no one has said, "Gummy, what do you think about the NFL playoffs this year?". In order to help you pay off your Christmas debt, here are my bold playoff predictions, so put your bookie on hold and read this first!

Indianapolis at San Diego.... San Diego is at home but got the home field advantage by going 8-8 in a weak AFC West. Their defense is a little weak and are coming off a big emotional win vs Denver. The Colts are the AFC's hottest team winning like 9 in a row. I believe the Chargers shocked the Colts last year in the playoffs, so the Colts will be ready this year. Go with Peyton Manning and the Colts.

Baltimore at Miami....Baltimore visits the AFC East Champion Dolphins, who shocked the NFL by going from worst to first in one season, coinciding of course with the arrival of Bill Parcells. Baltimore has a staunch defense and powerful running game, two things playoff games are won with. The Dolphins are at home and the weather should help them more than if the game was in Baltimore. I don't like a Rookie QB in the playoffs but I think the Dolphins will have trouble scoring and the distraction of Bill Parcells possibly leaving the team at the end of the year, along with the fact that the Ravens are simply the better team....Go with the Ravens.

Philadelphia at Minnesota...Typically you like the home teams in playoff games but Philadelphia is as hot as the come right now, has a great defense and running game and is out to prove the early skeptics wrong. Minnesota also has a good defense, a great running back and home field advantage. So it comes down to the QB for me. Tavaris Jackson will turn the ball over and the Eagles will win going away.

Atlanta at Arizona....Everyone is in love with the Falcons and for the most part, rightly so. Very strong running game and a rookie QB not making mistakes. Everyone is down on Arizona right now and for good reason but.....The Falcons play great at home not so much on the road. Same with the Cardinals, great at home not on the road. With the game in Arizona, a veteran QB vs an average road team and a rookie QB, go with the Cardinals to get their lone playoff win.

There you have it.....Looking forward to getting bashed after the weekend of games but who knows, next week you may be waiting with baited breath for me to tell you who to bet on!

Well the first weekend of playoff games are over and the prognasticating Gumshoe went 3-1 vs the spread and 3-1 outright, only losing the Colts vs Chargers game.....I bet alot of my rivals missed that one too........

I hope everyone got rich this weekend and week two's picks will be out in a few days.

San Diego at Pittsburgh
Baltimore at Tennessee
Philly at New York
Arizona at Carolina

Here are the early lines for this weekends Divisional round of the playoffs

Baltimore @ Tennessee (-3)

Arizona @ Carolina (-10)

Philly @ NY Giants (-4)

San Diego @ Pittsburgh (-6)

All of these games are rematches of earlier season contests and all were relatively close games with Baltimore losing to Tenn. 13-10 and San Diego losing to Pittsburgh 11-10. Carolina beat Arizona 26-20 and the Eagles and Giants split their two meetings.

It is way too early in the week to make my picks just yet. The lines are apt to change and will be affected by any injuries such as the one suffered by Cardinals WR Anquan Bolden and Chargers LT. If made to pick now, I would be leaning underdog in all four games.

Disclaimer** This thread is for entertainment purposes only!

I'll take Baltimore and San Diego in the AFC. Philip Rivers is a winner and the Titans are garbage.

I like your system tiger, straight to the point! One question though, If the Titans are garbage, how would you describe my beloved Browns?

Here is a freebie.......take the longhorns and give the 9 points. (Head) Go Bucks! (heart)

Eh, I'm not gonna touch that Browns question....Earlier in the season, the Titans were doing good, but without some of the beef on their line, they won't make it....Plus, I just don't like Haynesworth, dirty sob.

Okay here we go with Week 2 of Gumshoe's Playoff Prognostications! I certainly don't feel as confident with these picks as I did the ones last week and the lines are very interesting.

Baltimore @ Tennessee (-3) - The home team usually gets three points for home field advantage. Both teams have solid defenses and strong running games so with Tennessee at home the spread stays at 3. Baltimore has the rookie QB vs Tennessee's veteran. Logic dictates going with the home team and the veteran QB. However, Baltimore is playing very strong right now and Tennessee will either be rested or rusty. I am going with Baltimore and taking the points.

Arizona @ Carolina (-10) - This is a huge spread for an NFL playoff game and given that I have often said the NFL is like the WWE, it seems the oddsmakers know something we don't. So if the Carolina is such a huge favorite playing at home where they beat the Cardinals 26-20 earlier in the season, what do they know? I think they want us to take the Cardinals and the points. But they know everyone knows these things as well. So logic dictates that if the oddsmakers are making it seem like Arizona and the points is the play, hoping you will take Carolina using my logic, then one would say take Arizona and the 10 points. Did that make sense? Take Carolina and give the 10 points.

Philadelphia @ NY Giants (-4) - The two teams split their games this season both winning on the others field. I don't believe Philly can keep it up and win twice in New York in one season but..........the Giants haven't been the same since Plaxico shot himself.....Giants may win but take the Eagles and the four points.

San Diego @ Pittsburgh (-6) - Steelers at home, great defense at home, San Diego with no LT and travelling long distance, have to be worn out. Weather factor. Take the Steelers minus the points.

I also like Florida (-4) tonite to cover against Oklahoma. Good Luck to all this weekend and remember you heard it here first!

Steelers, Eagles favored......from the Associated Press

The success of road teams in the NFL playoffs this month has impressed the oddsmakers.
Philadelphia is a 3-point favorite at Arizona in the NFC title game Sunday, according to the early odds. The Eagles’ domination of the defending champion Giants in a 23-11 victory at Giants Stadium led to that line.
The Eagles routed the Cardinals 48-20 on Thanksgiving night.
Host Pittsburgh is a 5-point favorite over Baltimore in the AFC championship game. The Steelers beat San Diego 35-24 on Sunday, one day after the Ravens won 13-10 at topseeded Tennessee.
Pittsburgh won the AFC North and Baltimore was second, earning a wild card. The Steelers won both regular-season meetings, 23-20 in overtime and 13-9.

First off-for Brown's fans can there be any worse teams playing for the AFC Championship???/ Really sucks that one of these teams will be in the Super Bowl.

I figure it will be the Steelers vs Cardinals in the SB. Then we can hear how the Cardinal coaches all used to be Steelers coaches and how everything Steelers is Gold.....at least Jerome Bettis isn't playing in Detroit this year...............

Couldn't agree with you more. With that said though I am rooting for the lesser of 2 evils.........The Steelers...only because the Steelers are not the team that ran out on us a few years back..................

Having whizzed thru the playoffs thus far with a 6-2 record against the spread, Gummy the Greek is now ready to give you the winners of the Conference Championship games this weekend.

Baltimore @ Pittsburgh (-4) Baltimore has great momentum and are playing unbelievable defense in the playoffs. The game is in Pittsburgh and the weather likely will be bad on a field that is bad in good weather. Pittsburgh won both games this season by a combined 7 points and if not for a bad call, should have lost in Baltimore. Joe Flacco has played consistantly and not turned the ball over but he is still a rookie playing in his biggest game of his life....how long can this go on. I say it ends this weekend... Pittsburgh has the number one defense in the league, is playing at home, has more offensive weapons and will cover the spread in this one. I predict a 20-10 or 17-10 Pittsburgh victory. Take the Steelers and give the points! As a Browns fan, very painful either way.

Philadelphia @ Arizona (+3) Convential wisdom automatically tells you to take the home team when they are getting the points, however, Philly destroyed the Cardinals in Week 13 something like 48-20. Both the Cardinals and Eagles are coming off huge road playoff wins and nobody thought the Cardinals could beat Carolina let alone without Anquan Bolden. Donavan McNabb has been a different player since his benching and the Eagles defense has played great. The bottom line in this game is can the Eagles get to Kurt Warner? The Cardinals are a much better team playing in the warm Arizona sun and get Bolden back for the game. They have a rejuvenated running game and their defense has played very well in the playoffs. I like the Eagles alot but I just can't go against the Cardinals at home getting points. Take the Cardinals and the three points and pray Kurt Warner remains upright long enough to pick apart the Philly secondary. Cardinals win outright 24-20.

That will give us a Cardinals vs Steelers SuperBowl in Miami FLA, while the Browns are at home wishing Labron James was a football player!
