After another terrible year isn't it time for another one of those famous nationwide searches for a head coach. Only this time find someone who amazingly isn't on the staff now. They are embarassing.

I just finished reading the new book, "They call me coach" which is about Coach Strahm. If you enjoy Oiler football I recommend this book.

It would be nice to see UF get some more D1 transfers to help the program. Lets face it the schools in the GLAC that win every year are loaded with D1 tranfers and it does make a difference.

The D-1 transfers go to the places that win and Findlay hasn't done that for quite a while.
The bottom line is they have not had what would qualify as a good D-2 coach in 10 years.
I'll give you one example. The starting QB goes down late in the year when the season is already a bust. He has to put in a guy who up until this game which was game 9 was going to redshirt. The coach doesn't like his performance in game 9 so in game 10 he starts the highly touted freshman from Texas and now he loses a redshirt. So, in the last 2 games of a very bad season he gives up 2 redshirt QB's. This is not playing for the future. This is flat out not smart. I talked to a player at one of the basketball games and he said the players have no respect for the head man as well as the AD. Football is suppose to pay the bills. Think how bad it would be if the b-ball team wasn't good.

Give this group of coach's a chance(6-losses by 8 points or less). They have just completed their second year together. The future for the Oilers looks bright. Give them some time. They are young and are building something special with a good group of student athletes. Go Oilers!!!

Those 3 all look like they could make difference.
I saw (another UF D-1 recruit) Mike Chambers play against Ashland this year, and he is one heck-of-a player - if any of these 3 newcomers can make contributions like he did, UF will be on the way to winning those close games instead of falling short.
Good luck to them and the Oilers in 2009.
