Ashland RS Sophomore WR Joe Horn (2006 graduate of Waynesfield-Goshen) is leading the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conferece (GLIAC) in yards per catch (17.3) and yards per game (93.13) after a huge game against the #1 team in the country, Grand Valley State U.

Against the Lakers, Horn caught 12 balls for 183 yards and 2 TDs.

In his 8 games this season, Horn has caught 44 passes for 753 yards and 7 TDs.

In the first game of the season, Horn had 5 kick-off returns for 163 yards to set the Ashland single-game return record.

Horn is currently ranked 16 in all of NCAA Division 2 in yards per game.

Ashland has 2 remaining games, is currently ranked 4th in D-2 Super Region 3. Should AU win their final two games, they will be in position to host a playoff game should they remain ranked #4.

Good luck to Joe and the Eagles!

Congrats to Joe Horn. We all know that "speed kills" as they say, and that track compliments football very well. Joe is one of many athletes who prove that statement. ( I know I know there are several great track athletes that have not done well in football....my reply....probably they didnt know how to use their speed as a tool for FB) Joe certainly has, along with his other speedy track teammate...the name escapes me just now. Anyhow,...keep up the good work...keep beating the big boys in track too.

Wiser2 - thanks for the encouragement ...

Joe finished with 69 catches for 1065 yards and 9 TDs (3rd all-time on the AU list) - he and teammate Nick Bellanco (72 catches 1105 yards and 9 TDs - tied for 1st all-time at AU in receptions) are the first 1000+ yard receiving duo in AU's history - and they have the best combined receiving record in the GLIAC.

Horn was also named 2nd team All-GLIAC at WR - he and Grand Valley RB Jimmy Berezik were the only sophomores named to the All-GLIAC offensive list.

He and Bellanco are hoping to add to their collection of indoor and outdoor track All-American awards in the 4x100 and 4x400 with the addition of freshman speedster Carlin Isles (Massilon Jackson). It will be exciting to see if AU can maintain their dominance over OSU, UC and the other fine Ohio sprint relay teams at the Ohio Championships this year.
