According to you, the second goal was not offsides. But that means you think the first goal WAS offsides. That means final score would've been 1-0 VB, not going into overtime and sending VB into the Bluffton game. But officials the entire game were poor. There were displays of good and bad sportsmanship the entire game by both teams, sometimes resulting in cards. For instance, Rdale's coach got a yellow and VB's sideline was close...

As for the shot, that definitely was a shot. You can't screw up that good... It was a perfect shot. I just wonder where that was the whole season... He'll shape up to be a fine player, as he's only a sophomore this year...

The hard tackle by the VB kid, #4, which took out the forward and injured the VB player until late in the second half, did end up being a yellow card. The ref said that. Said "Coach i got him down for a yellow." Not sure exactly what the call was tho... It should've been nothing or a straight red for and Obvious Goal Scoring Opportunity. So... who knows what the ref was thinking. Soccer isn't what it used to be. Refs are afraid to show the red...

Lastly, I agree... Rdale doesn't stand much of a chance to Bluffton. No offense but Bluffton has dominated the field all year long. It may be a good game tho. We'll just have to wait and see... Good luck and great season to all the teams in the divsion.

Rdales coach got a yellow because the ref is a pav.gif and at half time i can remember that #30 yelling at his coach excuse me chorus (coaches) and one of the chorus members having to contain him.. so he went and kicked the fence a few times? closedeyes.gif As for the shot it was a good shot but who honestly would shoot from such a distance? i dont think the goalie was expecting it nor anyone, either way still a good shot

and im so glad you know that riverdale doesnt stand much of a chance.. you must know alot from sittin on the bench all the time thumbup1.gif

Just to get the story straight blues4life and Warrior4...I made absolutely no comments to the vb fans/parents. All of my comments were aimed directly toward the sorry officials that were officiating. (if that's what we call it these days) And while we are on the topic the field was more of a swimming pool than an actual soccer field. I thought with all the diving going on the vb players might be needing some life jackets. That is how they got their one and only goal. The kid took a dive and got the foul...went on throughout the whole game....and too bad for Riverdale the refs never caught on to that.

Knightmare, I want to go on the record by saying that not everyone posting here are Riverdale folks. Some are, but most on this topic are not and the ones that are are past players and not connected with our current team.

I know you all aren't Riverdale players (fans, coaches, etc...), but just lay off the Knights, you guys won in a tight game, lets leave it at that, no need to go on and on about players at VB, or refs, or the multitude of coachs on the VB sideline... you can't expect Swaisgood to be there forever can you?

Ok for one there was originally 2 assistant coachs one used to play for the knights when they went to state and was a very very good fullback and the other is very soccer oriented. Tom swaisgood will not be there forever so lay off the multitude of coachs vb has right now. Its getting old. I was just stating my opinon as you all are some think the 24 kid was off some dont. And yes both teams had very poor sportsmanship. Especially when number 9 and the vogel boy, he just kept throwing elbows at some of the vb guys all day, and yes i know vb did it to. We all need to stop the exscuses and move on you won in a very very tight game. Just hope you enjoy your season while it lasts cause if Riverdale brings that poor sportsmanship and piss poor attitude to the bluffton game, the pirates will wipe the field with them.

Ok with no dog in the fight I will insert my two cents. I watched the game at Blufton. Im from an area that has not played either team ever. I dont care about who won or lost.

1. I did not see a lot of dives...
2. I agree the officiating was not great but it was also not intentionally bad.
3. I saw the yellow card on the Riverdale player who charged the kick. The ref on the opposite got it WRONG. He did not see the first VB player touch it with his foot. The player did not move, he just reached forward and touched it with his foot to start the play. The second VB player started forward to take the kick at the same time the Riverdale player did. He got carded after the farside ref convinced the near side ref a foul happened... How he convinced him I have no Idea since he watched from the same angle I did.
4. The last goal of the game was definately a 50/50 call it could have went either way it was so close to being offsides that I couldnt object either way it was called. What I thought was sad was the defenders did not keep playing in case they didnt get the call and it cost them BIG.
5. The was 2 VB fans If I had to guess mother and older daughter (red hair on one) who were so insulting to the fans on the otherside it stirred them up and started getting things out of control. What do you do... People are free to express their opinions in America. For the most part I believe majority of fans on both sides did great and was enjoying a hard fought game.
I loved the student fans who dressed up. Funniest outfit I ever saw in a game was the guy in a wrestling singlet with a jock strap and a cup on the outside of it with a fake morning star in his hand!!! Hilarious!!! The guy in the crown funny as well. from Riverdale.
6. Could not tell what caused the coach on the far side to get a yellow card .... just heard a couple of parents saying oh no ... not again. Guess he saw something he didnt like and was letting the ref know.

If I had to evaluate the game... I would say the more deserving team won based on control of the game by riverdale. I saw VB had talent ... they just did not play hard the whole game as a team.... Still a good team... 23 has a lot of talent from VB would like to see him use more of it.

The only thing i saw was a player from VB and a player from Riverdale started shoving each other around near the stands, and i saw the riverdale player spit at the VB player. The VB player appeared to start the shoving, so it was kind of mutual nonsense. Im not calling a certain team dirty, or even a certain player, i'm just saying that's what I saw.

Well honestly the first goal by Riverdale shouldn't have even been a goal because the guy was offsides and the ref was right there but he didn't bother to see it. So right there VB should have won 1-0 with no over time so the last goal of the game shouldn't have even mattered because it shouldn't have taken place.

And the boy with the jock strap on was digusting and wrong i'm scarred for life.
On your comment about the fan that has red hair is wrong

I myself think number 30 on VB should have been benched with the attitude he took. I also think he should have been carded with how he was playing to. He played the player not the game.

If you're saying just cause Riverdale would have been called offsides that VB would have won?

Soccer mom? If Riverdale realized that they needed to score, they would have put the throttle on even harder.

You can't go by what you said.
