One other thing falconfan......please keep posting about the greatness of Riverdale Girls bball and how lucky LB girls got last year. I'm hoping one of LB's players or coaches will read them and use it as bulletin board material to give the girls a little extra incentive to beat the Dales again...........
loosecannon-
I don't know what school, if any, that you follow. I am guessing that if you do follow a team, that you see quite a few of their games. Having watched your team against both good and bad opponents, and also watching your team have good and bad games. I have seen Riverdale play some pretty "lousy" basketball and still win the game against lesser opponents...so to say that it is "easy to bring your A-game against the Vanlue's or Lucas' is somewhat true, but not a guarantee. Our girls played some pretty bland games last year during the regular season. They would take the court and lack enthusiam and cohesiveness alot of times. They also struggled mightily with the inside game throughout the entire season, as they really did not find the answer to replacing Schoenberger in the middle. Riverdale's press also missed the speed of Speigel against the opposing teams' guards (who would struggle big-time with the pressure she applied). So to say that we had our "A-game" on was not a given last year. We were fortunate that the coach made the move of bringing up freshman Kessler to the varsity lineup for the tourneys. Sure, we had Kayla Brown, but Kessler was a difference-maker for us. She provided alot of what we were missing the ENTIRE season.
...back to following YOUR team, though...
wouldn't you say that it is fairly obvious to you, loosecannon, when your team is not playing their best?....I mean by having watched them game-in and game-out against good and poor opponents?
I will say when an opponent is good. L-B is a good opponent. Are they the best we faced last year? I don't think so. I would say that probably Colonel Crawford, Bucyrus, Fredericktown, and Garaway were better teams than L-B.
I know that I "whine" quite a bit when we lose. We haven't lost very many games the past three years. But to be honest, the team that impressed me the most the past three years was Ottawa-Glandorf a couple years ago.
