Unless you were there, you have no idea what happened, so please don't comment. A guy falling down in the box isn't a PK...unless a foul is committed, which the official 20 feet or so from the play didn't feel had happened. My only comment was the guy who called it was directly behind the play 50+ YARDS away and would have had an awfully tough time seeing the action clearly enough to call a foul when the closer official didn't.

No, I was not there. But just for fun let's put the shoe on the other foot.

So there was "action" in the PK area, right? The official was on one side of the that area, though 20 or so feet away could have been looking through as many as 5-12 players. If that official WAS 20 feet away, can you see through a brick wall? I know I sure can't. Where was the "action" commited, on the side nearer to the "close" official or on the other side of the area, which may have given that official farther away (all be it 50+ yards) a better look at it? I am curious to know which side of the area the "travisty" took place.

stupid spell check. By the way, what is Kalida's record before tourneys?

The only reason I corrected your spelling was because you have the word "Smart" in you screen name. Just having fun! welcome.gif

Smart A.....The play occured in the box (obviously) 20' or so directly in front of the closest official.....who had an unobstructed view of the play. I was standing on the sideline directly behind the official.....absolutely no one between him and the action to obstruct his view. The foul was called as a push (OG player directly behind the Kalida player)....meaning the official upfield, yes 50+ yards was basically directly behind the OG player when he called the foul...yet somehow felt he had a better view than the other official was directly beside the action and able to see both players, including any push (or not) that may have occured. As I said, if you weren't there, don't bother commenting.

I don't understand the thought process of soccer officials sometimes....this has happened numerous times at games I've attended this year. It almost seems like at every game, 1 official feels like he needs to be "the man", regardless of where the fouls occur. It always seems like one of them feels that the other is inferior and is incapable of keeping track of his portion of the field without help. I would think that if you're going to officiate, and don't trust the official you're working with to make a correct call, why would you work with him? Maybe soccer needs to start keeping "teams" of officials like football, where you'd work with the same official all the time. At least that way, you know (or at least think) that your officating partner is competent and may not feel the need to make calls that are in his area of the field...and that you are out of position to make.
