This is on the University of Findlay Web Page and I think this is great for the Oilers program after winning the D-II Championship.

Oilers To Take On Duke, Utah In Exhibition Games

The University of Findlay men’s basketball team, fresh off of winning the 2009 NCAA Division II National Championship, has scheduled two exhibition games for the 2009-10 campaign against Duke University and the University of Utah.

The Oilers will face the Blue Devils on Tuesday, November 3 at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina before heading to Salt Lake City, Utah to face the Runnin’ Utes on Saturday, November 7 in the Jon M. Huntsman Center. Tip-off for the Duke game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. while the Utah contest is slated for a 12:00 p.m. (Mountain Time) start. “It is exciting to have the opportunity to play programs like Duke and Utah who each have storied histories,” said head coach Ron Niekamp. “When programs of this stature invite you to come and play, you absolutely can’t turn them down. Our coaches and players are very excited to have the opportunity to play in Cameron Indoor Stadium and are also thrilled with the opportunity to take on Utah.”

Duke finished last season with a 30-7 record and are considered a favorite to capture the national championship next season after reaching the Sweet 16 in 2009. Utah meanwhile ended the 2008-09 campaign with a 24-10 mark, qualifying for the NCAA Tournament.

Findlay wrapped up last season with a 36-0 record, the best mark in the history of NCAA Division II men’s basketball for a national champion. They defeated the University of California-Pomona in the championship game by a score of 56-53 in overtime.

The Oilers have had some success against NCAA Division I opponents during the preseason in recent memory, defeating The Ohio State University by a score of 70-68 in 2007 and narrowly falling to Xavier University 79-76 to open the 2008-09 campaign.

I was there to see them beat OSU. That was shocking but it's been nice to see them follow that up with a great last 2 seasons.

Hopefully they put a big scare into Duke. It's always fun to watch their "fans" come up with reasons why a team with far less talent gives them a run or beats them.

Who you going with? I think Texas is going to be all over them - even though they are on the road. Duke has been lucky in a few games this year.

My prediction:

Duke 75
Texas 80
