Cleveland Browns' Brady Quinn on IR for season
By Mary Kay Cabot

Associated PressBrady QuinnBEREA, Ohio --

Browns quarterback Brady Quinn has been placed on injured reserve with a right foot injury sustained on his 24-yard run at the end of Sunday's 41-34 victory over Kansas City and will be lost for the season.

"It's going to take a little while (to heal),'' said coach Eric Mangini.

He said he's not yet certain if he'll undergo surgery.

Derek Anderson will start Sunday against the Raiders. Brett Ratliff will be the No. 2 and Josh Cribbs will be the No. 3.

Quinn went 2-7 as a starter this season, and is the NFL's 26th ranked quarterback with a 67.2 rating. Anderson went 1-4 this season with a dismal 36.2 rating.

It's the second straight season Quinn will finish the season in IR. "He's done a lot of good things,'' said Mangini. "I think the no-huddle helped him and helped us.''

With Anderson starting, it sets up a possible intriguing matchup against former Browns QB Charlie Frye, who started for the Raiders last week, but left with a concussion. His status for Sunday has not been determined.

I think this could be a good hire, sad part for most Brown fans, this guy may want to move forward without they old beloved Quinn....

Here is my prediction for the Browns based on nothing. Holmgren will keep Mangini for next year and go after Gruden in 2011.

Gumshoe, you really think those 2, Gruden & Holmgren, could work together? Both pretty strong independent minded people. I would like to see it but I think both would want too much control and clash.

A man goes to the Pittsburgh Steelers ticket office and inquires about purchasing play-off tickets. The ticket teller replies that there weren't any tickets for sale because the Steelers did not make it to the play-offs.

The following day the same man goes to the Pittsburgh Steelers ticket office and inquires about purchasing Steelers play-off tickets. The ticket teller politely replies that there weren't any tickets for sale because the Steelers did not make it to the play-offs.

This goes on for an entire week. The man goes to the Steelers ticket office inquiring about play-off tickets and the teller says none are for sale because the Steelers did not make it to the play-offs.

Another week of this goes by and the man still is asking the ticket teller about Steelers play-off tickets. Finally the ticket teller in a loud voice says, "I'VE TOLD YOU FOR THE LAST 2 WEEKS THERE WERE NOT ANY TICKETS AVAILABLE BECAUSE THE STEELERS DID NOT MAKE THE PLAY-OFFS!"

The man replied, "I know. I drive all the way from Cleveland just to hear you say that!”

With the Saints inclusion into the SuperBowl club this year, there are now only a select few teams to have never made it. This list continues to shrink with the Browns, Lions, Texans and Jags to have never made one.

Wow, there has been alot of activity recently for us Browns fans to talk about. Today the Browns traded Brady Quinn to the Broncos for hard nosed FB Peyton Hillis and two draft picks, they traded Kamerion Wimbley to the Raiders for draft picks, they added an OT and a LB, and of course aquired Jake Delhomme, Seneca Wallace and TE Ben Watson. Whoa, talk about changes!

First off, I am glad we no longer have to watch Derek Anderson, and while I am sorry it did not work out for Brady Quinn, can our QB play really be any worse with Delhomme? We still have 13 picks in the upcoming draft and I for one have to trust that Holmgren knows what he is doing. You have to think that we will take a QB with one of our top picks, likely a 2nd rounder. I really hope we don't trade up for a first round QB, cause I am really not sold on any of those guys.

I would like to see us be able to get Eric Berry or another top defensive player with our first pick and then take a QB later. One guy I really like is Dan Lefevre from Central Michigan. He is big, mobile and can play in Cleveland weather and I think he is somewhat being overshadowed by all the bigger names. Plus I'm told he doesn't like to get drunked up and molest 18 year olds and hotel hostesses!

I heard a new song this weekend and it went a little something like this, Big Ben went down to Georgia looking for a girl to feel, he was way behind something, something something, Charlie Daniels couldn't have sung it better!
