WBL Week 10

(0-9) Van Wert at Wapak (8-1)
(2-7) Defiance at Shawnee (1-8)
(5-4) Celina at Kenton (4-5)
(3-6) Bath at Elida (5-4)
Game of the week: No doubt about it again, O-G at St. Marys. O-G should be in the playoffs even with a loss, but probably won't be hosting a game. Wapak and St. Marys have clinched playoff spots in the same region, but both look pretty good to host a game even with a loss. So if O-G wins, there's a chance all 3 schools could host a playoff game. Meanwhile, all other WBL teams are officially eliminated from the playoffs, maybe the first time in quite a while that only 3 teams have a mathematical shot going into week 10.
Elsewhere, the final 3-week jumble continues as there could be as many as 3 games that are toss ups. Exciting end to the season after several weeks of blandness.
Last week, only 18 people made picks, after at least 20 had every other week. There was one person who had picked every week who didn't, leaving 15 on that list. It was a little easier week than I thought, with 12 perfects and only two people got 3 right. With 2 unanimous picks, the consensus went 4-1 as I was surprised a few more people didn't pick Wapak or Van Wert. There was a slight change near the top of the standings as 2nd place dropped from a 3-way tie to 2-way, one game back. 7 people remain within 3 games of first, which could get interesting with a few toss up games this week.

(0-9) Van Wert at Wapak (8-1) - Wapak can rest the starters after halftime as VW goes winless. Has this ever happened?
(2-7) Defiance at Shawnee (1-8) Shawnee is playing much better but Defiance beat Bath sooooo
(5-4) Celina at Kenton (4-5) Bulldogs get a win for a winning season.
(3-6) Bath at Elida (5-4) - huge rivalry game at Elida, they take the win

(0-9) Van Wert at Wapak (8-1): Tough loss for Wapak last week as they lost the streak and left a lot of points on the field, but VW should be a nice way to clean up some things before the playoffs.
(2-7) Defiance at Shawnee (1-8): Defiance couldn't have had an uglier win than they had on Friday, but they did indeed win. Defiance's superior running game will help them win.
(5-4) Celina at Kenton (4-5): Tough call on this one, but I think Celina has just enough to sneak past Kenton, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Kenton win this one.
(3-6) Bath at Elida (5-4): Elida really played OG well last week. I could see a let down for them but Bath just doesn't have enough of a complete offense to put points up like Elida does.

How long has Van Wert's coach been there? Do you think he will keep he job or does he even want it anymore? 0-10 seasons are hard to live through.

Van Wert went 0-8-2 in 1929 (apparently Weeb Ewbank was a better NFL coach than high school coach), then 0-10 in 1973, 1991, and 2011 (which was followed by two 1-9 seasons).

This is Recker's 5th year at Van Wert, with a 10-30 record before this year. The program was trending up with 1-9, 1-9, 3-7, and 5-5 records before losing a bunch of players from last year's team. I know people are impatient but they were getting gradually better before this season.

I wouldn't say people are impatient if you get half a decade with a record of 10-40, no winning records, and a winless season in your 5th year. Not saying he should lose his job and probably a great guy but at year 5 your program is what it is at that point.

St. Marys - They appear to be class league this year. Wow, OG gave up a lot of points last week.
Wapak - Solid year for Redskins and nightmare for Cougars
Celina - Coin flip
Defiance - Toss up game. Future is so so for Defiance. Talent just isn't there.
Elida - Just better than Bath

Wapak over Van Wert - no comment
Defiance over Shawnee - I guess I'll go with the Bulldogs, but I don't feel good about it. Defiance just plays too undisciplined although now that I check I see Shawnee is the most penalized team in the league...
Celina over Kenton - man, I don't know. Even common opponents results have been almost the same. I guess I'll take the better defense.
Elida over Bath - Bath seems to have gotten worse as the year has gone on.

Wapak (8-1)
Shawnee (1-8) ---- 28 last week against Celina who is better than Defiance so I guess that's the logic?
Kenton (4-5) --- They're still Kenton at home
Elida (5-4)
