This past winter, the University of Findlay mens and womens track teams had one of its best indoor seasons in the history of the program. Bluffton Graduate John Guagenti placed 4th in the nation in the indoor 400 meters, as well as, placing 6th in the nation in the 4 x 400 relay, along with Delphos Jefferson Grad Tim Sanders, Bloomdale Elmwoods Curtis Smithey, and New Bremen's Dillon Webster. Former Ada athlete Derrick Vicars placed 2nd in the shot put, and 3rd in the 32 pound weight throw in this tough championship field. Additionally, Bluffton HS graduate Shane Shockey was crowned National Champion in the pole vault. In the high jump Cory Vales placed 6th in the meet, garnering All American status, as did all of the athletes mentioned. As a team, the University of Findlay men were 4th in the nation and have gained momentum heading into the outdoor season. Findlay will look forward to improving that finish in the NCAA outdoor championships coming up in May.

Several athletes were very close to the indoor qualifying marks, with several that will be added to the mix in the upcoming outdoor season. Follow them closely, because they have the pieces of the puzzle to make a serious run at the top spot in the nation. (of course ....anything can happen).
