Madison Plains played in D6 Region 22 last year. They were 5-5.... but played 4 playoff teams. One was D4, two were D5 and the other D6. They beat D5 West Jefferson (score 52-21) who ended up 8-5 on the season.

Is the BVC staying as is? What about Hopewell leaving? Although I have heard they are undergoing lots of changes over there. Wjhat about SRL? I see where Lakota is trying to get junior high games. Kinda stinks those kids don't get to build those rivalries at a young age but who knows if kids care about that stuff these days.

Why wouldn't they care? People are over reacting big time to how kids feel about sports...they obviously care

I know the GMC gets a little flak for not being uber-competitive in sports except for Tinora and WT...but i appreciate the conference being the exact same since 1978.....keeps tradition in a world thats losing that quality fast

Exactly my thoughts with the WBL, except it has an earned reputation of being competitive on a state wide level. It's been no secret around here the last few years that I personally would LOVE if Defiance had a potential league closer to home to be a part of, because those weeknight trips to Kenton and Celina are killers, but considering that could never happen without breaking apart the WBL to find schools to add to Napoleon, Bryan, and Wauseon, I'm happy. League's been the same since 1982 and shows no sign of wanting to expand. I kind of wish we could play Bryan in football, but I feel like we've developed a few nice rivalries inside the league and I hope it never changes.

The only way I can see these 12+ team leagues actually working long term is if there's a clear big/small split. Otherwise, it's just too big and I honestly feel like not having a true champion cheapens things.

Kirtland's conference on the other side of the state has 20+ teams with divisions 1-7...so they have three tiers with big medium small...and then they have three conference champions

Paulding needs to be in the GMC though instead of Holgate....IF there should be any changes made...geographically it fits and Holgate doesn't compete in anything except boys (every now and then) and girls basketball

They did have a 3 tier conference (Chagrin, Valley, an Metro divisions), but I believe several teams left the conference over the last several years and they are down to like 16 or 17 teams now. I could be wrong, but I think rolling into this year they may have only two divisions..

I think its a really cool and unique concept the bigger cities can use to be honest...

Up until Montpelier jumped to the TAAC/BBC I always thought a 10 team GMC with Paulding and Montpelier being added would work. Geographically and competitively, Paulding fits. It's a little big, but not so much so that it would be a huge outlier. And in terms of computer points, it's not like they're getting many in the NWC as is.

With Antwerp and Holgate's numbers problems I'm really surprised the GMC HASN'T looked at them again. I know Paulding has shown interest in the recent past, but the GMC at the time was happy with their 8(and didn't want Edon). I think Holgate in the TAAC for football and BBC for other sports with Paulding in the GMC would honestly probably be the best case for all involved.

I think so to! And not with just football...Imagine Crestview and WT duking it out for basketball titles every year...WT already plays Ada, Lincolnview, Crestview, Paulding, and they used to play Spencerville.

Crestview and WT would be epic in the NWC.

WT is poised for an epic collapse in hoops and football very soon. Basketball will be good this year and decent next year (Ethan)....beyond that, buckle up. Football is done imo.

I agree that they will hit the normal 2-3 year down period like every small high school...but to say its DONE? I dont agree with that at all...

So it sounds as though talk is hot heavy again with league movement, stretching all the way across the state. Lots of scenarios happening in NW Ohio.

I've read now in two different places that Napoleon is leaving their league effective 2017??

It's all far from done. Next up will be conferences merging, getting bigger & splitting into divisions for "security" purposes. No one wants to be a loser at musical chairs.

The MOAC is about to be a mess....and that could have trickle down effect into NW Ohio.

^^^yes, I saw that in several places. I think it's every school for themselves. I'm not sure loyalty will play a factor because no one wants to get caught with their pants down.

The loser this time around could be the NOL (similar to the MAL the last time around). The MOAC Red could be in a similar position. Elgin could be left out of MOAC Blue reshuffling.

If Napoleon is truly leaving for the NWOAL it would cause some shuffling up that way that affects maybe up to four leagues.

It's official - the Blue division of the MOAC is breaking away, forming their own league and adding Danville. That leaves Elgin out. Does the N10 let them in? Or the NWCC?

A couple of thoughts:

1. Hopewell-Loudon leaving the BVC to join a new league is a bad decision. New leagues rarely last long now a days, plus the BVC is the perfect fit for them since the conference has now established itself as a respectable league. No longer the Barely Varsity Confernce.

2. Montpelier to the GMC is never going to happen. They bring nothing to the table for the GMC. They don't bring gates and all thier sports are struggling.

3. Paulding to the GMC would work, only if they replace one school...either Holgate or Wayne Trace (if they left for the NWC).

4. NWC - add Wayne Trace and Liberty- Benton ( always thought LB would be a good fit). If LB stays in BVC, then NWC could get Parkway.

5. If the WBL would go to 12 teams...add Sidney in the south and Delphos to the north. Yes, Delphos, assuming they ever combine both St. John's and Jefferson together. If this did happen, they would be too big for the NWC and they are right in the middle of WBL country.

That is my two cents.
