For the last four years, Wapakoneta has held a stranglehold on the WBL title. This year could be the year they relinquish that title with Bath and Defiance the favorites to stop their reign. Defiance finished 9-0 and Bath 8-1 in dual competition. Wapakoneta would need to win the tournament and hope for a Defiance collapse to third to earn a share of the title. Lets take a look at weight classes.

Winner in bold
106 Lucas (Shawnee) will likely pin his way through. Assaf (Def) or Selvaggio (Elida) as opposing finalist.
113 Hower (St. Marys) vs Hunter (Elida) finalist. Look for the senior Hower to overturn an earlier loss. Hefner (Wap) your dark horse candidate
120 Ingram (Bath) with Lantow (Def) likely finalist
126 Zipfel (Def) vs Crites (Celina)
132 Kaeck (Wap) vs Barajas (Def) or Askins (Shawnee)
138 Wheeler (Bath) vs Clellan (Def) or Plaugher (Wap)
145 Kuhlman (Shawnee) vs Meyer (Def) Ambos (Wap) in the spoiler role
152 Lowe (Bath) vs Garwood (Celina), Bowers (Def) can win this but Im going with the seniors to battle it out.
160 No real favorites like the other weight classes perhaps Huffman (Wap) can take control to win this, I will list the undersized Garrett (Bath) as a defending champ (138) as a possibility.
170 Hefner (Shawnee) vs Slife (St. Marys) with Newman (Wap) and Rabley (Bath) playing a role
182 Hall (Wap) vs Rudasil (Bath) Osborne (Def) and Silliman (Celina) as dark horse finalist candidates
195 Brown (Wap) vs Smith (Elida), deep weight class with Smith (Kenton), Ebbeskotte (OG), Hill (Van Wert),Mikesell (Bath) capable of crashing the party
220 Carpenter (Wap) vs Lhamon (Bath) rematch of last years finals. Morris (Def) Allison (Shawnee) capable of winning the weight class
285 Thomas (Van Wert) vs Seibert (Def) another deep weight class, but it is heavyweight which if you run this tournament 10 times you could have 10 different winners Neal (Bath), Hughes (Shawnee), Wade (Celina), Gibson (OG) Duncan (Wap) on a hot weekend could win it.

The team race will be super tight and not the 40 point blow out will be there this year. However, look for Wapakoneta to go down swinging and a super motivated Bath team looking for at least a share of the title, and Defiance look to bring their first title since 2001. (Co Champ) It will be wildly entertaining. Here are a few questions I have that could impact the team title race.
1. Shawnee - Is Hennon out for the year?
2. St. Marys - Why no Slife at state duals? Does he drop to 160 where he would be favored to win?
3. Wapakenota - Will we see Copeland back? Which Kaeck will show up?
4. Bath - No Cunningham, Mikesell, Lowe in the lineup as of late, Does Davis show up here?
5. Defiance - Jr. High State placer F. Chavez back? Does he go 113 for league? C. Chavez out does he come back for league

Despite not having answers I will project the top 5

1. Wapakoneta
2. Defiance
3 Bath
4 St. Marys
5 Shawnee

Overall winner will be Defiance going undefeated in the league duals the difference.

It is obvious that reversehalf does not only follow the area wrestling but specifically the WBL. With WBL's only 2 days away its time for everyone's picks... Weight class top 3's? WBL champs? Take in consideration that Wapak can still tie for the league title with a victory and a Defiance 3rd place. Can Bath stay in the top three with so many wrestlers missing?

152 – Lowe (if healthy), Bowers (here or 160), Garwood (or does he go 145), Heitkamp, Knapke

160 – Garrett (if Bowers goes 152), Flynn

I believe you may be quite surprised in a few of your weight classes... but that is why we wrestle each match. So you have Bath potentially winning 5 weight classes???, Shawnee 3, Elida 2, Wapak 2, Defiance 2. So I would say you and reversehalf are definitely at odds here. Reversehalf seems to think Wapak pulls 4 weight classes, Shawnee 3, Bath 3, VW SM and Defiance all with one apiece. Someone please straighten this out!!!

Init4life. Here are a few kids that I would expect to make some noise this coming Saturday.
106 Justin Nedderman (SM) been ranked at 120. He has spoiler written all over him. Look for him to knock off at least one of the top four listed.
132 Dylan Askins (Shawnee) the kid is tough. I expect him to place top four.
160/170 Slife (SM) he's a hardnosed kid if he wrestles this weekend he's a finalist either weight class
182 Osborne (Def) his decision over Rudasil tells me he can find the podium.

Bass - several unknowns at this point with Bath pulling that many weight classes. Lowe's status of injury, Garrett only claims top spot if Bowers goes to 152. That leaves Ingram and Wheeler as favorites. Neal and the remainder of the big boys could be a coin flip. Many of these guys have wrestled each other several times with them splitting matches. I'm going with Neal because he has underperformed this year and may have more of a chip on his shoulder.

reversehalf - no argument here, totally agree with Nedderman, Askins and Osborne at their respected weights. Slife has been out of the line-up for several weeks. Have not heard if he makes it back for league.

Very decent assessment gentlemen! There are many kids out there that could make a difference, are the seedings in?

Seems that reversehalf and init4life think the title comes down to either Wapak or Bath, with dual meet champ Defiance a close third. Defiance has found a way to work through its challenges this year fairly well with a lot of different names finding success in league meets. I have a feeling Defiance finds a way to put together a line-up that finishes no worse than second, taking claim to at least a share of the WBL overall title. If am correct, then the ultimate question is whether Bath can win and claim a share, or if Wapak can win and dash the Wildcat hopes.

Bath has to be riding high following their big wins on Wednesday to qualify for state duals, but that was DIII; Wapak and Defiance will not go down without a fight. Predicition: 1. Wapak 2. Defiance 3. Bath 4. St. Marys 5. Celina 6. Shawnee 7-10 is a slug fest to see which team stays out last place in the league.

Lifetime fan look at my team projections, I think the league tournament title goes to Wapak with Defiance and Bath fighting for second. I have Defiance edging Bath for that runner up spot with Defiance claiming the outright title.

Reverse - thanks for correcting me; I will try to read better in the future! Guess I was looking more at the individual weight class projections.

Not really a WBL fan, but the league has been interesting this year and the tournament appears to be very close. Is anyone attending that can provide updates occasionally?

Uphill battle today for Bath. No Davis, Lowe and top JV kid, McConnel all out today. Leaves Wapak and Defiance to sort out the top spot. Tough way for Bath to end league play and enter the tourney's.
