It is not about winning at all. LB hasn't won a football league title in four seasons. Before that they had a very nice run. It happens in every league with PH and Wynford each having similar success but longer. Its about strengthen the league for everyone, including LB.

Actually 3 seasons now. 2008 they were D-5 state runnerups. Must of been the biggest D-5 school that year is why they were good. :pickles:

Quote from Foozball:
No I think LB is great for the league, I just want bigger teams added to improve the overall comepetion. If that means breaking off and starting a new league, there I said it, then so be it.

I believe you have accurately described the situation as it currently stands. The BVC schools that have the potential to win league championships (LB, Leipsic, McComb, Arlington, Etc) are looking for league members that can provide several things:
1) proximity to reduce transportation cost
2) competitive teams that generate computer points in football
3) competitive teams that challenge for league championships
4) competitive teams that help the league earn state-wide recognition
5) fan support that translates into ticket sales
6) facilities that are up-to-date and not bare-bones
7) the ability to field a relatively full slate of teams (varsity, jv, frosh, jr hi)

Not all current members of the BVC meet the above criteria. If there are current league members who block the league expansion, then why wouldn't the larger members of the conference pull out and form a new league. Take the top 6 or 7 teams from the BVC and add some combination of Carey, Riverdale, Ada, Bluffton, Grove, Elmwood, and/or Hopewell and you would have a heck of a league. The smart move for the smaller current members of the BVC would be to support expansion so they still have a quality league to call home.

last season Leipsic 2 seasons ago McComb 3 seasons ago Leipsic and 4 seasons ago LB. Is why I think they said 4 seasons ago.

Outside of the AC era they won one league title on this list. I wonder when their last league title was prior to 2004.

I believe 2000 was either HN or McComb 99 and 98 were PG. So overall there has been pretty good balance outside of Vanlue, Arcadia, and VB.

When was Arlington's last league title or have they ever won one?

How's like 1974 sound for the last BVC football title before 2004 for LB.

I was being sarcastic. People think LB is too big for the BVC and maybe LB was the biggest D-5 school that year was the only reason they were successful. AC was a big part of those good teams, but there was also a bunch of hardworking kids who had good coaching as well.

I bet there would be NONE of this talk if all schools could participate in football tournaments. To me, THAT is why we see all of this movement with league reconfigurations. I mean, even the mighty MAC has played with their schedule so that the member schools can pick up an extra non-conference game in the hopes of extra computer points. In EVERY OTHER sport, when the regular season ends, your team heads to sectionals or districts (depending on the sport)...but not in football...we have to qualify. It's because of this, that we have all of this whining about so-and-so being too big to compete with. If a loss didn't hurt your football team's chances of making the playoffs, we'd actually WELCOME a tougher team on the schedule. In basketball, we'd chalk it (a loss) up as a learning experience...or something to PREPARE the team for tournaments. But when you're a D6 school, playing in a primarily D6 league, a single loss could cost you that chance at the playoffs. Bringing in more D5 schools, maybe even some that you could beat every so often, would actually boost your chances at the playoffs (if you're D6). More importantly, with 12 to 14 teams in league, you could play a schedule that could have both divisional and cross-divisional games, plus the ability to have an extra non-conference game or two...THAT is where the computer point potential skyrockets.

So if L-B were to leave who would replace them? Would they have to agree not to win too much? If you look at winning programs you will see that it probably has more to do with the coaching and the yrs they have committed ( Quisno, Wagner,Williman,Nichols) thats a lot of yrs of coaching right there. Look at others that have good for yrs (in football Arlington Hardin Northern McComb) have all had very good programs because they kept their coaches.

Good point you can't change coaches every time the wind changes direction.

League titles since 1973 pretty balanced outside of Vanlue and Arcadia. If they would ever consolidate instead of taking the beating it would be great for the league.

Arlington 5
CR 5
HN 9
McComb 10
PG 3
LB 7
Leipsic 5
VB 4

Arcadia and Vanlue 0

I believe in 74 L-B and Arlington were both 8-0-1 they tied 8-8 that season I was there and recovered an onside kick attempt by Arlington late in the game, man am I old ?

L-B is a little too big for the confrence and will only grow. But on the off chance that P-G can beat CG, LB, and VB in the same year we can get in the playoffs with 6 wins, yes i did the math :whistling:
