Sad night in the baseball world tonight and the two people hurting the most are Armando Galarraga and umpire Jim Joyce. Galarraga deserved the perfect game no doubt about that, but Joyce made that human error to rob him of that feat. As I sit here watching TV Espn and stro have been talking about it ever since the game ended. As a Tiger fan of course I feel bad for Galarraga, but to be honest with you I feel just as bad or maybe even a little worse for Jim Joyce. As someone once told me, there was only one perfect man to ever walk the face of this earth and they ended up nailing him to a wooden cross.

I was EXTREMELY p***** off after that call, but as the night goes on the more I feel sorry for Joyce. It was a simple mistake he made, unfortunately for him it came at the worst time as baseball history was being made. And now this is all he'll ever be remembered for.

It's worse than someone making an error on the 27th out, and that one is every fielders nightmare. In his defense, pitcher covering the bag is the toughest call there because you are not simply listening for foot on bag and slap of throw into glove. The timing element makes if tougher but no less painfull

Reading Jim Joyce's comments after the game make me respect this man in blue. He owned up to his mistake and appears to be heart broken. It's nice to see an ump who realizes the game is bigger than him, especially with some of the recent situations (Country Joe West anyone?).

news today is that selig is going to review it and has the authority to overturn the call. i guess we will see if he can fix the mistake made on the field.

Imagine if he had been defiant as other umps have been in the past. He would be getting hammered right now. Roger Clemons, Barry Bonds, are you taking notes?

Selig announced it won't be overturned. I don't disagree with him. It sucks, but it would set a dangerous precedent, and if you overturn this then how do you decide what can and can't be overturned in the future?

At least all of the fans who watched, everyone on the field, and even everyone involved in baseball know this was a perfect game. Whether or not the record books say it for the rest of time or not.

Joyce was behind the plate for todays game, and before the game, Galarraga got a new car....and He also took the lineup card out to Joyce, shook his hand to teary eyed Joyce...as far as I am concerned, class act by everyone. This could have been a bad situation, but the ump took it and said I made a mistake....cudos!

Yep, I can't see any other pitcher being as calm and moving on the way Armando has. And I don't see very many umpires apologizing and being truly sorry for messing up the way Joyce has. It's still a terrible situation and something that needs to lead to improvements, but if any positive can come out of it it's that people are now seeing exactly how much of a class act both of these guys are.

Both the player and the umpire have proven that they are class act individuals. How Galarraga remained so cool as to as smile when he heard the umpire say that dreaded word "safe" is simply amazing. And for Joyce to admit that he was wrong and apologize proves to me that he's all man................. Now there is only one thing that needs to be done. But unfortunately the only person that can turn this entire situation around and make it right for the good of the game of baseball won't do it. You see, in baseball they have this commissioner guy named Bud "wussy" Selig who doesn't have the balls to step up to the plate and produce a game winning rbi......... Selig has the power and all his has to do is say that since everyone on earth knows what the real truth is lets give this kid his perfect game. Just one time and this one time only lets just go back to June 2nd 2010 and reverse the call and after this season instant reply or a 5th umpire sitting upstairs reviewing plays will be added to help get it right. Bud Selig won't do this though, he'll just do what he's always done .......... Nothing, nothing at all.
