i think they've made some great decisions so far in free agency. the signing of stallworth makes a good recieving group one of the tops in the afc and the resigning of anderson was smart, i think he'll have a great year this year and get them into the playoffs. they now have a proven runningback in lewis who signed for 3 more years and i hope if they can they should try to see if they can sign warrick dunn for a low cost who was just released by the falcons today, with them two always fresh durring the game it will only make them better and they have someone reliable if one of them gets hurt. i don't think that they really need to do anything to o line. signing sean rogers from detroit is kinda questionable but they needed help there and bringing williams i think it is from green bay can only make them better. does anyone know if simon fraser has any years left on his contract or if he has resigned, i got a chance to meet him this past season along with eathan kelley and they are both really good guys and very underated on the line. not much movement in the linebackers so far but i don't think they should really do much there with a solid group but maybe use one of their late round picks to sign a backup. the dbacks did a good job towards the end of the season but would look to sign a cb, there's been talk about them maybe being able to sign asanta samual from the pats but i'm not sure if that will happen and again they should use one of their picks to draft one. along with the linebackers, the safeties held the secondary together most of the season and shouldn't make any moves there. also they shouldn't do anything with dawson and zastadel.

with all the signings i think they'll overtake the steelers this year and be the favorites in the division. so far i can see about a 12 win season while sweeping the steelers. this could be a great year for all the major cleveland sports teams, could they go for the sweep?

12-4? Have you seen the schedule this year? 9-7 might win the division.

Overpayed a bit for Shaun Rogers, in my mind. Resigning Derek Anderson for that kind of money was a mistake. Quinn will overtake him as the starter next year at some point, mark it down.

HOWEVER, Corey Williams is a great pick up, as is Stallworth. If they could sign Dunn, that'd help give them a back to mix things up with.

And they can't sign Asante, as he signed with the Eagles on Saturday, I believe.

I like everything the Browns have done this year. I think it's all been done with a definite plan (although, what's the plan with Brady now?)

But we still have to remember ... they are the Browns. They'll still figure out how to mess it up!! rolleyes.gif

I'm not sold on the Browns yet....

1) Lots of guys with character issues (Jamal Lewis, Shaun Rodgers, Kellen Winslow)
-To quote ESPN's Colin Cowherd, "If you think character isn't an issue in the NFL then go talk to a Bengals fan"

2) Anderson is gonna start with another guy voicing his wishes to play, bad for locker rooms

3) Donte Stallworth is NOT worth an 8 year deal, he's never been a #1 reciever but still gets paid like one

4) (and most importantly) It is a fact that good NFL teams have good drafts (pats, colts, packers, giants) how good do people expect the browns to be if they trade away their draft picks

I like Corey Williams but to me that team is still a ways off....

thoughts?

i don't think you can say that lewis and winslow have character issues. yeah lewis did time but it's been a couple of years now and he's stayed away from that kinda stuff and is ready to be a team leader. winslow just had a big mouth, i think last year he cooled off a bit and learned that he can shut up and let his plays do the talking. i'm not sure about rogers but i do know that he needs to get into better shape.

with the qb's what's the difference from last year? he shown that he's going to take the high road in this and not bash anderson and try to beat him out for the job. quinn has to say that he wants the job because if you want to be a qb in the nfl have to want to start or there's no reason to play.

for stallworth, i think he was the #1 reciever in new orleans after horn left. but also look at the other recievers that he's played with, nobody's going to beat out moss for the #1 spot.

this is their draft but they're getting proven players with years left (lewis is only 28) instead of ones that you don't know how they'll turn out and you can always get quality guys in the later rounds.

Yeah, trading away your entire draft is kind of fishy. What round do they have left? I heard there's only one. Makes it pretty simple to sign the guy when your rookie pool allottment is only for one player.

i guess my main reaction is that there are a bunch of Browns fans who think that their team has the inside track and should be mentioned with the rest of the top tier teams in the NFL, but I still can't pull away from the facts

1) Jamal Lewis has done time, not too mention he is pretty old for a running back

2) Shaun Rodgers has been linked to drugs in his career

3) Kellen Winslow wanted to restructure his contract after having his first productive year of his career. Never seems to care about anyone but himself

4) Good teams draft good players, not buy them.

I'm not saying that any of these players won't produce, but to give them the benefit of the doubt by expecting them to be stars is a little foolish.

Well said wingman the guy is only looking out for himself, he really showed that after the National championship game, in the locker room yelling I am a soldier, and just acting stupid in front of the camera. It was quite embaressing if you were a Miami fan.

Cleveland seems to be trying to build up NOW for a run at the Super Bowl within the next 2-3 years. The problem being that I still don't see them as being a contender for that. Three years from now, they'll have to start cutting some of the high salaries and worrying about the fact that their team is too old and has no youth brought up because of trading away their drafts.

Come on Pal
1] see Fred Taylor>Lewis is only 28

2]So has Brett Farve

3]This was his second productive year. And most in nfl players only care for themselves

4] So New England is not a good team? They didnt draft Randy Moss/ Rodney Harrison / Mike Vrabal / Donte Stallworth / Junior Seau / Wes Welker / Cory Dillion /Adalius Thomas and a few more im sure.
Dont hate congradulate.

I heard that even with all of these big signings, they're estimating that the Browns will be about $20 Million under the cap again next year....

The AFC North will be won with only 9 or 10 wins.
