I would say Ayersville's just because it is so small.

How about the stage at Vanlue. Zach Garber is allready 6'9. Imagine him from 3 feet below court level!

Vanlue is a tough place to play, the size of the court is one of the smallest high school courts I've seen. Add in their size, they are very tough to beat on there home floor.

Toledo Christian is a tiny gym the stage is behind the visitors hoop and the fans on the opposite side of the scores table practically sit on the court

Well the hardest gym to play in from a players standpoint would easily be Delphos Jefferson. Small court and if one team presses then you can expect an ugly game. Very dangerous for the players on the open end of the stage where there is a big drop.

This question can be answered in two ways. A players perspective or a fans perspective. I know some people will get the wrong idea of the question as I already see and give their opinion speaking on behalf of a fans perspective.

So as a players perspective I would have to say Delphos Jefferson. As a fans perspective I would have to say Grove and Continental.

Vanlue and Delphos Jefferson are always tough venues to play at. Always seems so tight out on the court. Hate watching games from the stage as well.

Gotta be honest. I was never intimidated or "felt" the crowd on any floor I ever played on. I played in big gyms, small gyms, small crowds, large crowds.....never noticed an ounce of difference. There were times on smaller floors that were tricky due to where the 3 point line was close in the corners or not much room on the end lines...etc....

3-point line? What is that? I remember playing on courts where the Division Line and 10-second Line were not the same line.
That's just the Reality of it...

How about the OLD Miller City gym, where the over and back line was the free throw line. Can't imagine what it would have looked like with a three point arc,

I have to go with the supreme court and I have to imagine OG's home record has to back me up.

Some of you are to young to remember the old USV gym!!!. The Pit! It had the restraining line around the outside, the over and back line was not at mid- court. and the crowd use to throw skittles, m&m's or even a few pennies at you. The fans in the front row had their feet right on the out of bounds lines, and if you were the one "lucky" enough to take the ball out..... Well we won't go there...

Ridgemont had about the same set up. And I think the gym at the Kenton elem. school out by the Mc Donalds was right up there with those.

The old Hoytville and the Wharton gyms were pretty crappy too!

Great memory about the old USV gym HH. Your description is dead on. They usually had a teacher (assistant coach?) or two referee the games too. That was one tough venue to win a game in.
I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.

I have to agree. Everyone is packed in and it gets hot as hell in there. Tinora is not a very fun place to play either

The gyms in today's world are a real treat and nothing compared to gyms of 1940's, 50's, 60's. Some examples are the old Payne gym with the balcony hanging over the floor, "The Barn" in Miller City with pot belly stoves on each baseline, the low celing in Malinta, the hard floors (2x4's on end) at Ottoville, Kalida and McClure, the Dragon Pit in Glandorf, fans shaking the basket from the balcony in Deshler, narrow and short floors in Holgate and Oakwood, and the Cat Walk in Napoleon. In the 50's and 60's Ayersville's current gym with its regulation size floor was the biggest and best around. One of the most amazing gyms was the old gym in Leipsic. It was huge, seating nearly 2,000 with a tile floor. The Class B District tournament was an annual event there in the 1940's.

Today, my favorite gyms are Kalida, Napoleon, St. Mary's, Elida, Hicksville and Paulding.

Malinta-Grelton High's Locker Rooms were quite different.......you scaled a steel ladder up to an elevated lockeroom room built on either end of the stage with just a small curtain over the doorway at the top of the ladder! To use the shower you had to go downstairs to the corner of the building (complete with nasty sulphur water) :wallbash: via the ladder so, needless to say, no one bothered showering after the game. And............of course..........the "temptation" to shove one of the smaller players (like your's truly "back in the day anyway") was to shove you to the end by the ladder opening and cause considerable embarssement!
