It's amazing how far this program has gone under the direction of Tyson McGlaughlin during his tenure. He really seems to get the most out of his players each and every night. It seems not that long ago that we were dealing with .500 underachieving teams in Ottawa.

Who knows how much this program could have accomplished if Ty had been promoted to HC earlier? He should have been given the keys to the program the year he turned Miller City around IMO.

We still have a lot of season left, but I'd imagine OG is a favorite to get out of regionals this year. Any word on who they might hit in this year's tournament?

Don't get me wrong, Ty is a great coach..........but let me remind you that the guy who coached at OG before him won a state title in 2008.

OG should have never hired the guy who had a history of job-hopping. In 6 seasons, he won 2 District Titles and 1 WBL Championship. Pretty mediocre IMO. 2 of his 6 teams were damn near .500, one of which had an impressive senior roster.

Most of his former players seemed to resent him. He publicly humiliated his players during his time at OG when dealing with the media. Nobody did less with more than Leslie.

I think he made a good decision moving to girls HS basketball. It's more his speed...

The program is much more stable under Ty.

Coach Leslie won as many state titles as the coach before him and the coach after him in a smaller time frame.

Maybe those players that Leslie coached were under achievers...or maybe not as talented as the players he has now.

Wasn't OG favorites to get to State last year?

And the year before that

Two years ago was their year to win it all. D-3 was very winnable that year in Columbus. That was a heart breaker. Ran into an Archbold buzz saw that night!

I've never heard anyone complain about Coach Leslie, players or parents. I know quite a few guys who played for him and quite a few people who had kids the same age as his son was when he was younger. He had some talented teams, but you have to remember that there is a lot of luck involved in making a deep tourney run....and you have to understand that some years the competition on the tourney trail is much tougher than other years. OG used to play in the WBL sectional at Lima Senior. You could almost guarantee you'd have to play at least 3 WBL teams to get out of the District....that's a tough road for any team

Leslie never had to go through the Lima Senior Sectional (that was the Sweet era). It must've been really tough getting by Delphos Jefferson and Spencerville in the Elida District. Don't even get me started on the old Findlay sectional that attracted some outstanding programs in Div. III. :punk:

That was a good year for area hoops. The Anna team that they beat in the semifinals was stacked.
