As the end of the basketball season approaches, you will notice that Rocketman and Flounder have fine tuned their rankings......within the next week, the drawings will be complete and we shall all see who were voted the top seeds in each sectional.....this is always the greatest time of the season as we all prepare for the fun of attending the tournament games....the excitement, anticipation, and sheer joy of the tournament atmosphere is very hard to match......and also, the time spent by Rocketman and Flounder at the Varsity Club during state tournament also adds to the fun......we will be passing out awards to all poll leaders during the girls state tournament........this event has really improved from our 1st presentation of trophies to our mythical champions......I can still remember Rocketman cranking up the welder in his garage and actually building these trophies from scratch......oh, they were a thing of beauty.......today, with the money we make from our polls during the season, we can present some very attractive trophies.....it still amazes me how far we have come......

Well, not much movement in my new polls, but some of our readers.....well, at least one of them will be pleasantly surprised to see his team break into my top 10 in D1....they occupy the 8 spot and after much deliberation and soul searching, that team is Middleburg Hts Midpark........this team absolutely pummeled two below 500 teams this past week........Olmstead Falls 78-26 and North Olmstead 78-28.....I feel that this should be worth something and I am sure our readers would agree.....also, if you will notice Midpark is ranked higher than 3 quality teams that they snuck by during the season.....that being Wadsworth, Springboro, and Toledo Notre Dame.....

It's time to post my rankings....and as usual...something the AP does not offer.......you can reply to our polls and we will try to answer all of your questions.....so drop us a line....I anxiously await...especially from one reader!!!!!!

I think Shadyside wants some respect. Their schedule is tougher than Tri-Village. Other than that, flounder you the man. I really can't disagree with your assessment. Shadyside will have to win the Gnadenhutten district beating Hiland, Rosecarans, Strasburg, Garaway or Beallsville to advance to the regional. Will wait and see.

Welcome back to this week's edition of the "Flounder & Rocketman's" Girls HS Rankings..... :)
Again i want to express our thanks fo all of our loyal readers and to also invite all of our new fans who have finally
found the RC...........I believe that Flounder said it best when he remarked that this is the only rankings where
you have a way of responding to what you believe to be the strength's of our poll, and in some cases........."the weaknesses"

during our 10 years together there is 1 thing that the Flound and I have figured out.........We aren't going to please everybody!
So, most of the time we don't try...........however I've made a concession this week to one of our newest contributors.......this
Ricky Rubio character was railing about both Flound and I's failure to include some Midpark team in our rankings......so after
consulting with Flound this past week and after receiving a nice bottle of wine from the Old Mill Winery near Middleburg Heights.....
(very much appreciated and we noticed it even has a cork! :thumbup1: )..........We will probably take this along when we head down to the
girls state tourney come the middle of March and actually hope that someone from Amish Country would be willing to bring along
some nice brie cheese or a sharp cheddar to enjoy it with............I'm also noticing a little bit of indignation from the New Riegel folks
about their absence from my rankings.......and while the Arcadia alumni now know why their Lady Redskins failed to crack my top 10
while enjoying a lofty status in the AP rankings, I think they all feel deep in their hearts that I was right.........the AP was wrong.......I've
known for a long time that a gaudy record resonates a lot better with them than a team that has a less-than-stellar record.........

We hope that this helps explain a little bit about how our brilliant minds work and why sometimes it appears that we have a disconnect
with certain teams..........thanks RM

This new riegel fan is not upset about your rankings at all. I've been around long enough to know how little rankings really mean (and I agree we are way over rated in AP) . Like someone said earlier they just give us all something to talk and sometimes disagree about.

With that being said though I think our girls are doing a great job this year and that they can compete with anyone. Can't wait till Tuesday to be proven right.. hopfully

Oak Hill with big win over Ashland Paul Blazer on Saturday. Lady Oaks playing without star Lakin Caudill. Hoping to have her back before tournament.

Not that it matters(or that I think that we are number 1) but it was a good enough win to move Oak Hill up to number 1 on the maxpreps rankings

I just want to add a little about a team I consider one of the best I have seen in D4........the Ottoville Big Green is a team worth the price of admission to see play......I have seen them on 5 different occasions this season and right now, they seem to be hitting on all cylinders.....Coach Kleman has these girls playing as a team, and right now I do not see anyone touching them......and it isn't all about Abby Siefker.......she has another running mate who is about the same size.....her name escapes me, but I believe it is Honingford....this girl is no slouch and she compliments Seifker very well.......2 others that really impress me are the Kramer girl and the Bendele girl....both are outstanding athletes.......everytime I watched O'town play, it proved to be a very enjoyable experience.......these girls really run the floor and play as a team......I hope they continue to improve and bring the crown back to NW Ohio......it will take a monumental effort to defeat them, but then again.....we all know what can happen in girls high school basketball.....anyway, I just thought I would put that out there for some of the posters.......if you get a chance to see them play, don't pass it up!!!!!!!

Waterford lost this weekend by 15 to D-3 Ft. Frye. Ft. Frye beat them earlier in the year. That was their 3rd defeat.
Hiland lost for the 6th time this year. Strasburg beat them earlier this season. When is the last time Hiland lost 6 games in a season. They still have Wadsworth D-1

Since you guys like feedback can Rocketman explain his reasons for Midpark's location in the rankings? Midpark's quality wins are Wadsworth (home), Sprinboro (nuetral court, double digit win). Toledo Notre Dame (nuetral) and you still have all of those schools ranked ahead of Midpark. Midpark 's only loss was by 1 point at McKinley. Just curious on your reasons? Was it wins and losses, strength of schedule or something else? Because Midpark is 3-1 against your top ten, all teams ahead of them.

Flounder didn't you say "It's time to post my rankings....and as usual...something the AP does not offer.......you can reply to our polls and we will try to answer all of your questions.....so drop us a line....I anxiously await...especially from one reader".
I was just asking a question??? I was just looking for Rocketman's thought process???

Well readers, this is the big week......the week of destiny. I just noticed that the newest AP poll has New Riegel ranked 2nd in Ohio in D4........I am not going to even go any further with that........this week should say alot about Rocketman and Flounder!!!!!!!!!!!!

:bow2:

I agree with you and Rocketman. I don't even feel New Riegel and Arcadia deserve to be in the top 10. Who cares if they have 1 loss. That loss was a BIG one. The AP poll just tells me who has the better record and has no meaning on the actual better teams. I think you and Rocketman rank the teams the way they should be ranked.
