Being #1 on Rocketcorner carries significant weight on teams....don't discount that when tourneys start. DSJ could give O'ville fits considering they will most likely have to play each other 2x in 3 weeks. Always tough to play a conference opponent 2x IMO.

Thoughts on who else might be a team to upset O'ville prior to Regional?
Since when were DSJ & Ottoville in the same conference?

I know I'm biased, but Miller City gave Ottoville their closest margin of victory, which was 5 points or less. If Arlington and Miller City meet, the winner will give them a run for their money.

Miller City has not lost a game by more than 5 points, and that's including Ottoville and Minster. To say Ottoville won't have a game closer than 20 till state is crazy. So is saying Arlington won't until Regionals.

Don't get me wrong, I believe Miller City can be a good team at times but they can also be a bad team. I've seen them with some bad losses this year (P-G, Kalida, McComb) and the Ottoville game was a great game for Miller City, but a bad game for Ottoville. If MC met up with Ottoville again i don't think they will come as close as they did the first time just my opinion though. Then again I don't see them getting past Arlington. But if they did it won't surprise me because Miller City could be one of them teams that could surprise you.

By the way are you sure they didn't lose by more than 5 pts a couple times. Correct me if I'm wrong but I looked up a score against P-G they lost by 15 and McComb lost by 6 is that right or not I don't know.

You are right, totally my bad, forgot about P-G. McComb was 6 too, someone told me wrong. Good catch.

They are not but they play each other this week I believe. They could then meet up again in districts. Never count out DSJ, they have a very good program and coach not too mention play in a great conference.

The Jays are missing a true point guard.....it has haunted them all season.....I would be very much surprised if DSJ beats Ottoville....especially at O'town....another team that is flying under the radar is Holgate.....keep an eye on them!!!!

I tell you what I was a bit surprised on the score of the MC and LB game. Miller City has shown that they can compete with about anyone that they have played so far. But still they lack the consistancy. They have some good wins but some bad losses. Could be a team to watch out for come tournament time though.

It wouldn't surprise me flounder. The Lady Jays and Lady Green define what rivalry is all about. Both Grothouse and Kleman are good coaches and always seem to find a way to beat the other when one is having a good year especially if they see each other in tournament too.

I will agree with you on Holgate. Both them and Miller City are teams to look out for that are flying under the radar.

Arlington will have a tough match with Holgate in district semis. If they win, then, depending which MC team shows up, could possibly have a match up problem with Miller City, if they make it that far. Holgate and MC are peeking at the right time. I would be keeping my eye on Holgate. To say Arlington does not have as tough a road to regionals as Ottoville is, IMO incorrect. Ottoville has the easier path as Arlington may have to play 2 of the more dangerous teams in Holgate and MC in the districts. I am sure Ottoville is happy to not play either MC or Holgate that early in the tourney

Well to say Ottoville has an easier path can be incorrect too. It's basically what you think rather than what you know. Ottoville will have to go through either Jefferson or Crestview in district semis and then probably meet up with St. Johns in district finals. And for you to say Ottoville is happy to not play either MC or Holgate is just an assumption. They still have to play teams like like I just mentioned which gave them problems in tournament before so it's not like they are any more relieved. But you said it before you it just depends what MC team shows up and the same goes for Holgate. So we will just say both teams are going to have their hands full come districts.

Well they are 2-2 against the PCL teams this year. 0-2 against the #2 and #3 best team in the league. But they are playing well and can be a threat in tournament if they come to play.

Holgate lost 3 of their first 4 games to Stryker, Miller City, and Leipsic, all pretty good teams. They lost to Archbold on 1-28, and have won all of their other games against IMO lesser talented teams (although they beat McComb by 37) They are playing their best right now, but there is no room for let downs in tournament play.

I remember debating with Louden Swayne last year! Welcome back Mr Swayne.

I know your Holgate team can be dangerous - no one in Atown will be looking past Miller City OR Holgate that is for sure. Arlington just happens to be playing their best ball of the season as well...so when/if these teams play in districts, I expect any of these matchups to be very close.

In a few weeks - I am sure this topic will heat up.

Mysterio you are correct---I was just going by seeing Crestview earlier in the year and was not fully impressed with them--everyone has bad games though. DSJ could pose a problem for them--to clarify my statements-- I think Ottoville would rather only have to play either Holgate, Arlington or MC and not have to play 2 of the 3. Therefore in my thinking. Ottoville woulld only have to play 1 tough game. I have not seen Jefferson play, so I am just going by box scores throughout the year and what other NWC people have said.

Oh I understand, Crestview may be a little shakey this year but they could always pose a threat like Holgate or Miller City. Jefferson is better than you think as well as St Johns. Going by box scores can always be deceiving though. Holgate and Miller City both had some pretty bad losses. So really you don't know what your going to get out of them during tournament. But I understand what you mean. Regardless that district and regional will be tough.

So what once was thought as a somewhat questionable district in Liberty Benton for Arlington, is now turning into a meat grinder with Holgate and Miller City coming on strong late.

Congrats to LB for winning the BVC, although I sure wish Arlington and LB could have played later in the season this year...who knows. LB eaks out wins against McComb AND Arcadia in final two league games. Arlington beats both of those teams by large margins just a few weeks ago....AHHHHHHH :wallbash:

Regardless - It's TOURNEY TIME!!! Good luck to all BVC schools (yes, that includes LB :bag: ). Playing for all the marbles now...

I believe Liberty Benton has a few girls out (both starters i believe?) so of course that would help Arlingtons chances of beating them now. They are struggling with teams at the end here. Post I'm sure you know better, but you do know just because Arlington beats Arcadia badly, doesn't necessarily mean LB should even without the injuries. Every team, every game is different. Just for example, Miller City lost to P-G by 15 points. Ottoville beat P-G by 15-20 points. So you would think Ottoville would crush Miller City, nope Miller City played their tails off and only lost by 3. Sports can be incredibly insane sometimes.

Holgate and Miller City can be a surprise in that district indeed. More so Miller City since Holgate lost to both MC and Leipsic. But they could also just simply lay an egg as I have seen them do so a few other games. Regardless, they are both playing good basketball at the time that matters.

Oh did they? Ok I got the two Delphos teams mixed up. I edited my post that way we wouldnt have another response lol Either way I didn't have high expectations of them going far in tournament last season especially with knowing there were teams in the NW Ohio that were better like Jefferson, Arlington, and even DSJ since they did lose to them. This year I would say they are better than Jefferson, better than Delphos St Johns, but against Arlington that might be a toss up. In all honesty I would give the edge to Arlington as long as they can maintain that physical agressive style of defense.

Kind of my thoughts as well.
