The thought of mentioning a referees name on a forum like this (for obvious harmful reasons) makes me sick - dude - GIVE IT UP! While I am not a huge fan of HS officiating, it's very hard to blame a loss on a referee. Referees did not miss FT's, did not miss FG's and certainly did not intentionally make or not make calls - that is fact. Rumors are that this refs name is out and has received threats of various sorts - this is what is most sad. If true - I would hope that ref would put all possible energy into finding the coward that made the unsigned threats and prosecute to the extent of the law. It's HS basketball folks...no wonder we cannot find qualified referees for HS basketball these days.

Posty........

I totally agree with not blaming the officials.........except in a case like this.....the Perry player jumping up and down surely thought they had won, which tells me he must have heard the buzzer.....face it....this is just a terrible call and even with missed free throws and squandered opportunities they still felt they won.........I think if your team was in Perry's shoes you would have felt the same way.....forget blown opportunities....a shot at the buzzer will stand in people's memories for years!!!!!!

I agree Flounder however, the Perry players had been jumping up and down celebrating and taunting the Arlington crowd since there was just under a minute on the clock so I wouldn't take that as they heard the buzzer. It does suck for Perry or any other team to have their season end like this.

I keep waiting for this, but not one person has mentioned it.

This reminds me of the girls' Cinderalla season a couple years ago. In the game against Holgate at Liberty Benton High School, with less than a minute on the clock and Holgate having the lead, the time keeper failed to start the clock while Holgate was running time off the clock. I believe that there was 15-20 seconds that went unaccounted for.

Hunter hit a 3 pointer to win with less than 5 seconds in the game. Without the additional time we would have never won that game. The Holgate fans were irate, and the time keeper from LB hasn't been seen since a couple days after that game (rumor has it he is living in our the coaches basement).

Is it fate or destiny? I think it is a good sign that our boys will be hoisting the trophy in Columbus. We do whatever it takes to win the big games.

...just kidding about the time keeper.

Agreed it was a terrible call... but laughable to make the statement that game was one sided... If on the previous shot from Perry the scorers table would have signaled for player substitution thus stopping clock between possessions like they should have the extra .5 second might have been enough for the final shot to be good.... Or they could have called the foul on number 5's shot and it would have been a moot point... One play or player never wins or looses a game I've never blamed football loss for a kicker for missing a fieldgoal... in any game there are many many plays that influence that game. Odds are neither one of us is slated to make it to Columbus And according to USV's cheerleaders the spot from our regionals is already taken :) .... It's been 4 days LET IT GO
Not sure which is dumber... An idiot or one who argues with an idiot!

No dog in this fight . Just watched video. Absolutely no question this shot was after the buzzer. Could tell the first time I watched it .Very good chance Arlington kid was fouled on 1st attempt though.Unless he's just an awful shooter I see no way he wasn't hit on the arm somewhere.

The Perry kid that was celebrating was the kid who let the first shooter by him at the corner of the court....he started running down the court with his hand up well before the kid under the basket even got the ball, so saying he "was celebrating because he had heard the buzzer" is wrong.

With 2.6 seconds, for a kid to catch a ball, shot fake, take 1 dribble, shoot, a teammate catch the ball, come down and then shoot?? All in 2.6 seconds??? I'm surprised the officials didn't confer with each other.

The Holgate reference was mentioned by me in an earlier post - and so accurate! As mentioned, neither team is probably winning state championship this year, but maybe a little good karma will give us the necessary nudge :). I feel for LP too - I would certainly question the call if on the other end - I agree though that this topic has ran it's course and my biggest concern with all of this is the supposed harassment of the official that made the call at the end of the game - what has this world come to when this stuff happens. This coming from a guy that has chased a ref off of a court too...so I am no angel by any means

I have witnessed a lot of bad officiating this year in HS basketball games so this last second debacle doesn't surprise me. Heard even the Arlington players admitted it shouldn't have counted but to late now. I'm sure Arlington had some calls against them during the game as well. Good luck Red Devils in the next round.

Spencerville loving this, quietly waiting in the wings. Should be a good one tonight. 4 tough conferences represented at Wapak, who's comes out of there?
