Singletons shoulder is an issue. Hope that Defiance can light it up from the perimeter like they did in the earlier meeting. If not, and OG can dominate on the glass, Titans will move on.

OG wins 46-43 in a tight game between two very evenly matched teams. Kirk Lehman runs a great program and the bulldogs sure do defend the heck out of you, but today OG was just too much inside with Jordan Verhoff scoring on penetration and Jay Kaufman controlling the boards. OG moves on to the regionals for the 6th straight year and will play the Lexington Minutemen.

The three by Zac Unterbrink was a huge shot for us in this game. We miss there, & Defiance has all the momentum & could wilt away possessions.
I thought our defensive change from first game caused Dogs to stand around more than first game. Now, a replay of our reg matchup w/Lexington

Ty did a tremendous job changing up defenses and getting the Defiance offense out of sorts. Other than the spin move (which was scouted perfectly by the Titans) from Smiddy early on he never really got it going and ended with 9 (5 from the line)

When OG did box and one Unterbrink did nice job
When OG was man to man Stover worked his tail off
Smitty scored 2 points on him and they were free throws
Kaufman had huge rebounds and Stover added 6 Rebounds
This year OG team has no superstar and they play well as a team
It's gonna be fun to watch Thursday
Go Titans

I said early in the year the Titans would struggle to score and I was right ......
Turns out, it doesn't matter.....they work together and no one guy needs to go out and get 20.

I can't imagine more than two guys ave double figures this year.....

mysteryman....any idea?

Had a bad feeling about that game for a few weeks now. No excuses, 2 great teams went head to head and unfortunately it wasn't our day.

Good luck to the Titans the rest of the way, and ESPECIALLY if you get past Lexington and end up having to play N*p*l**n again. Please, for the love of God, someone beat N*p*l**n. The last thing we need is a perfectly good state tournament ruined with THEM there.

I believe Jordan Verhoff, Kordell Stover, and Nick Winruach avg double figures this year.
Zac Untebrink and Jay Kaufman were close.
But the thing about OG is they have different scores every night.
Not the same guy every game.
Those kids dont care if they score 0 or 20.
Point being Stover only job Saturday was to Rebound and play Defense.
He did Both.
His Defense was outstanding the whole game.
He finished with 3 points.
After the game that kid had the biggest smile of any player on his face.
All they want to do is win and they dont care how, who, or in what way.
This group is really tight and have been doubted all year.
What happens.
They share WBL league title.
Win Sectional.
Win District Championship
And beat 2 of the top 5 teams in the state in D2.
These kids deserve every bit of their success as they have worked very hard all year.
I think they know their identity and are peaking at right time.
We will see should be heck of a game Thursday!!!!

Just not enough depth for Defiance. Hard to win games like this with 6 players. Maybe Frederick could've made a couple threes...I felt like people were underestimating the team heading into the year, after losing a Division II college player from last year. They only lost two seniors, although one of the subs didn't play this year. While the starters were quality this year, no one really stepped up on the back end. They were good enough to win with home court advantage but losing three of the final five games was a pretty mediocre end to the season. By the way I do not like ONU. Decent size but as everyone knows, the seats are too far from the court. And in games like this, there's no time to use the bathroom/get some concessions/talk in that tiny hallway at halftime, right Maltese Falcon? As dhsdawg stated, your next mission, Titans, is to prevent that team on the other side of the bracket from winning this regional. What a buzzkill if they make it to state one year after Defiance...
