Practice in into 3rd week now and teams have a scrimmage under their belts. What teams look like the favorites in the BVC, TAAC, SBC and other area leagues?

Liberty Benton always contends in the BVC. Their down years produce a second place finish. North Baltimore has a lot back and VB should be pretty good too. Wauseon looks to be the favorite in the NWOAL, but Archbold is always right there. I think Patrick Henry will be improved again and could sneak up on some teams. I heard Rotroff didn't scrimmage in their first scrimmage Wauseon. I hope he is ok. Cardinal Stritch in the TAAC didn't lose much and has a kid with D1 offers, but Toledo Christian will be right there. GMC Wayne Trace and Ayersville should be compete well. Holgate lost quite a bit of talent, but I like their coaching. TRAC St John's has Williams, King, and a nice cast. I have heard Whitmer should be good too. NLL, I could see Northview winning it. Perrysburg is always right there.

I could be missing an obvious contender in these leagues.

WBL should be wild as ever. Wapak, OG, Van Wert, Elida, and Celina all returning key players. PCL should be competitive as well. MC, Leipsic, a young Ottoville team, and PG should be very competitive. Not familiar with Kalida-Jennings or Grove.

Elida probably has best player in WBL....but teams will be smart and double him up and force other guys to step up. I see Bulldogs finishing 3rd

That is great news for PCL basketball. Hearing a lot of chatter regarding Suever and Thorbahn in Oville and Erhart from Kalida. If they see significant playing time, I would consider them a young team.

I still don't consider them young when they only lost 1 senior from last year and have 5 seniors back who played significant minutes. Next year they will be young

He's also coming off an injury that sidelined him for the entire football season. Unruh will lead the WBL in most categories with Johnson, McAdams, Smith and Henderson...that's a dangerous starting 5, all of which are seniors. The only thing that will hurt Elida is their depth and not having much of a bench at all.

VW should be vastly improved as well. Bagley, Henry, Kelly, and Place are very formidable.

Once Kaufman is back, OG will be a tough matchup for anyone 6 guys 6'4 or taller will see significant playing time. Experienced guards. OG is back to the press all game mode and has plenty of guys to do it. Expect to see 10 (if not more) guys see the floor in the first quarter. Offense looks much improved...14 3's last night against LC (11 in the first half). Tonight vs LB should be a good one...I think there are only a couple teams in the D3 Lima Senior district with a chance of keeping OG from the Regionals...LB may be one, though I'm not sure they have the depth to match up with the Titans
