I'm hearing good things about Shawnee. How about Elida and Defiance and OG? How's Wapak and St Mary's. I haven't seen Van Wert, but I saw Celina in a scrimmage. Also saw Defiance last week. How about Kenton and Bath? It seems like a great group of seniors graduated league wide last year. Any exciting young guys playing?

Kaufman should be a load to handle at OG. Heard he developed a little outside game since last year.
Even though they only have 1 senior on the team, most of the guys are pretty experienced.

Does Defiance have enough returning/incoming talent to compete? They were pretty tough last year.

Menendez is an excellent smart point guard. Scott can shoot it some, and Kanouh has improved in the post. Wrap that all together with the best coach in the league and develop some bench.....the Dogs will be ok!

Pretty good assessment. One correction: Scott graduated last year. I think you meant Frederick can shoot it some.

Defiance barely escaped Kenton 39-38 last night. The Bulldogs will improve as the year goes on I am sure but they did not look like a league title contender last night.

4 road teams won last night in the WBL......Wapak, Van Wert, Elida and Defiance. The only home team was OG in a hard fought win over Bath.....the final score is not indicative of how competitive this game was. Bath came out swinging and played with more energy early on and hung around until OG pulled away late in the 4th quarter. The league is not great this year, but very even and on any given night one team can upset another.

Wow is Defiance way off. Can't play good defense, can't shoot, way more turnovers than recent seasons. I expected the team to improve over the season but I'm not sure it'll be enough to make a difference. I don't know if the Bulldogs have lost to Maumee, Rossford, or Bryan in the last 10 years and have already lost to all three. I was figuring on at least a game over .500 for Defiance but that could be a long shot now.

Bryan is a scrappy team with very solid guards,,,,,nothing to be ashamed of losing to them. In fact, their new varsity Coach (Fisher) spent several years coaching the Defiance JV under Kirk Lehman. I still have faith in Defiance being ok

Did anybody see the Wapak-Minster game? I have Wapak contending for a WBL title this year. Great shooters with a ton of athleticism. Any thoughts?

Van Wert fell at Wayne Trace 65-56 last night. Cougars trailed by as many as 20 at one time but never quit. Coach Bagley has these kids playing hard. Jacoby Kelly is a real good athlete. Also impressed with coach's son as well as Dylan Lautzenheiser. These guys could shock someone on any given night in my opinion.....wouldn't take them lightly at all

They are a solid team that plays well together, and that's a big key.

Looks like Shawnee beat a very good Perry team rather easily. They must be quite good.

WBL out of conference tonight:

OG 68 Archbold 60
LCC 69 Shawnee 66
Lima 52 Elida 50
St. Marys 62 Leipsic 47
Delphos St. John's 51 Van Wert 43
Bryan 50 Bath 40
Defiance 52 Napoleon 38

biggest surprise is Shawnee losing at home to LCC, a team the Indians handled less than a month ago in the tipoff @ Elida.
