(3-6) O-G at Elida (7-2)
(1-8) Bath at Kenton (4-5)
(6-4) Celina at Shawnee (4-5)
(4-5) Van Wert at Defiance (1-8)
(8-1) St. Marys at Wapak (6-3)

Quick look at the playoffs. Elida, Wapak, and Celina are 6th, 7th, & 9th in region 12. Elida should be good with a win over O-G, while Wapak is definitely in with a win but with a loss to a tough St. Marys team, could be out. Celina meanwhile, with a win over Shawnee, should have a decent shot, especially if Wapak loses. Unless maybe New Richmond or Piqua score upset wins. Unfortunately, whoever finishes 8th will be Trotwood-Madison's sacrifice, and the top 4 in this region look pretty strong anyway. Not sure if any WBL team here would advance past the first round.
Over in region 14, St. Marys has already clinched a home game (along with the outright league title), but might be locked into the 3rd position, win or lose against Wapak.

Last week was easy, as 11 people made picks and there were only 4 games missed total. 7 people were perfect while 4 people missed one game. The games differed though as only Shawnee over Bath and St. Marys over Defiance were unanimous picks. Wapak over O-G and Celina over Van Wert were 10-1 favorites, while the closest game was Elida, 9-2 over Kenton.
In the standings, waterloowonder basically locked up another title as amazingly, 3 of the 4 people who missed a game last week were the 3 people in 2nd place.

Looks like potential wet weather.

Elida - Wet weather could potentially favor OG
Kenton - Better team
Celina - Having a good season
Van Wert - Hopefully not a running clock
St. Marys - Been consistently good all season

1. Elida (Must win for the Bulldogs. If they lose, their season is done)
2. Kenton (I have a feeling Kenton is going to put up 60 points in this one)
3. Shawnee (I'm going to pick the upset in this one. Home game for the Indians and get a chance to play spoiler and knock Celina out of playoff talk)
4. Van Wert (Cougars will finish on a strong note)
5. Wapak (Home game for the Redskins and huge rivalry. Wapak needs this win to be in the playoffs and St. Mary's is in regardless)

Elida - not used to seeing O-G with this bad of a record.
Kenton - big.
Celina - been more consistent than Shawnee. Indians have struggled recently.
Van Wert - I bet it won't even be close.
St. Marys - Wapak needs it more but as usual I pretty much always go with the favorites.

FINAL STANDINGS

1.

43-12 waterloowonder (78.2%)

2.

39-16 baseballer4life (70.9%)

39-16 Maltese Falcon

4.

38-17 Hound Dog (69.1%)

38-17 Stallionaires

38-17 The Guilty Bystander

7.

37-18 haydenfox50 (67.3%)

37-18 Teddy Malone

34-16 Stafford (68.0%)

27-13 TiGgEr3 (67.5%)

18-2 justin44 (90.%)

12-8 von (60.0%)

9-11 ADog (45.0%)

7-8 BHS_Wildcats (46.7%)

7-8 futebolfan (46.7%)

Last week there were 6 perfect picks out of 11, only two people went 4-1, as a few people tried to maybe make some longshot picks to try to catch the leader, who was 2 games ahead. Two people went 3-2, while one person had the first losing record out of anyone since that disastrous week 2. The consensus did go undefeated with ease, with Kenton being the only unanimous pick, over Bath. Elida (over O-G), Celina (over Shawnee), and Van Wert (over Defiance) were 9-2 favorites, while not surprisingly, the closest pick was St. Marys over Wapak, 8-3.

Waterloowonder wraps up his 5th WBL Contest title with an untouchable perfect final week, to win by a whopping 4 games. No one else has even 4 titles. They've also been all in the last 10 years, so waterloowonder has won half the titles in the last decade! He was also in first place the final 6 weeks of the year, and was at least tied for 1st in 8 out of the 10 weeks. After waterloowonder's 8, baseballer4life and Stafford were in first place for 4 weeks, Maltese Falcon 2, and 1 week each for BHS_Wildcats, futebolfan, Stallionaires, and The Guilty Bystander.

Not much competition this year, will it be the last? Pretty weak turnout, almost every week only 11 or 12 people made picks. Only 8 people made picks every week, which is the lowest ever; it was 9 for the first two years, back when the contest was on the old WBL message board. The 15 total people who made picks in any week is the lowest ever, with the previous low being 18 back in year 2. How did I ever do this when 44 people made picks every week and 140 total made picks in at least 1 week, in 2008? This was, by the way, the 2nd worst winning record, with 2002 being the worst at 38-17.

15 people made picks at least 1 week, down 9 from last year.

Most perfect weeks: 4 - Hound Dog and waterloowonder.

Most in a row: 3 - waterloowonder (to finish the season)

Most losing records: 2 - 2 people

There were no winless weeks, and only one 1-4 week.

As is usual, there was one person who finished with a better percentage than the overall champ, but justin44 didn't even make picks in half the weeks while finishing at 90%.

Just for fun, here was The Guilty Bystander's predictions at the end of last year:

My bold predictions for the WBL Next Season
  • OG wins the title and goes 10-0
  • Elida finishes 7-3 and makes a playoff run led by Harmon and McAdams
  • SM falls back to 7-3 due to heavy graduation losses
  • Wapakoneta really takes a step back to 6-4 but then 2018 they return to the top
  • Much more depth in the middle of the league and at least four teams will make the playoffs
TGB's Way Too Early 2017 League Predictions
1. OG (10-0)
2. SM (7-3)
2. Elida (7-3)
4. Wapak (6-4)
4. Celina (6-4)
4. Kenton (6-4)
7. Defiance (5-5)
8. Bath (3-7)
9. Shawnee (1-9)
10. VW (0-10)

Kinda close on 2 of the predictions above, but way off on 2, and somewhat off on one.
The bottom of the standings predictions was way off but the top half of the league wasn't too far off.
