Tiffin, OH – Tiffin Calvert, who is looking to make the playoffs for their third straight season, invited Senior QB Nate Klingenberger (6-4, 195) and the Eagles of Colonel Crawford to town on Tuesday. Klingenberger and the Eagles are coming off a tremendous season and an historic one at that. The Eagles made their first playoff appearance in school history last year by finishing the regular season at (8-2). Klingenberger was a huge part of the Eagles success last year, as he threw for 2,210 yards and 25 TDs. Klingenberger made his presence felt on the field as he showed a very strong arm over the course of this tri-team scrimmage. Colonel Crawford showed pretty good size, speed, and descent depth at this scrimmage and they should be among the top 8 teams in Division 6, Region 20 this coming season. This region will also feature Lima Central Catholic, Ada, Wayne Trace, and Wynford.

South Central was the other team that came to Tiffin on Tuesday. Central is coming off a (3-7) campaign last year. Even though the Trojans showed up in small numbers, they still showed some good athletes at key positions. The Trojans compete in the Fireland's conference with always tough Norwalk St. Paul and Western Reserve. South Central will compete in Division 6, Region 19 this year.

Tiffin Calvert held their own in their hometown on Tuesday, as they welcome back 9 guys on both sides of the ball on a team that's made the postseason two consecutive years. Even though the Senecas lost some key skill guy last season, this year they'll invite their quarterback Tyler Long (6'2", 200) back to the lineup. Long started as a freshman defensively, but last year made the move to quarterback as well as playing the linebacker position. It's hard to believe that Long is just a junior this season, but he is coming off a nice sophomore campaign where he threw for 1,144 yards and rushed for 1,098 more last season. Long appears to have gotten bigger and stronger this off-season and throws a much stronger ball now. Long, also contributed 61 tackles for the Senecas last year. Another positive that the Senecas have going for them, is that they will invite their entire offensive line back from a year ago (OL/DL Marcus Somers, (sr., 6'2, 215, 3 year starter, 91 tackles, 8 sacks), OL/DL Austin Perry (sr., 6'2, 220, 2 year starter, 56 tackles, 8 sacks), OL Cameron Felter (jr., 6'2, 210,) OL/DL Matt Iannantuono (jr., 5'8" 205, OL/TE/DL Aaron Englehart (sr., 6'2, 200), OL/DL Marcus King (jr., 6'2, 245). Sophomore, Donovan Stith played well on Tuesday and showed great speed at the receiver and defensive back positions. He is another guy on the roster that contributed as a freshman last year. Calvert will look to compete for a Midland Athletic Title as this will be the leagues last year of existence. The Senecas will be competing in Division 7, Region 24 with conference foe Fremont St. Joseph and other playoff tested teams in Delphos St. John's, McComb, Norwalk St. Paul and others.
