The OHSAA does not allow "club" high school teams to play against sanctioned teams as "regular season contests."

So, they can technically play the high school teams in exhibitions and that's all. Arlington does have a high school club team, so they could play them. That's all that I know in this area, but I am sure there are a couple more.

Oh I know I am well aware of that. I know they can in scrimmages, but not many varsity squads will want to play a club team regardless. Like I said there have been club teams that have played JV teams during the regular season. Now under the OHSAA that's not really considered a regular season matchup, its just more of a scrimmage. I do know Delphos had a team at one time, not sure if they still do. Fort Wayne has a club team i think, maybe a few other ones but not many around NW Ohio.

Are you sure? I'll do some checking. I would think it is the school who would not use a varsity contest to play a club team....

Yeah, it's against the OHSAA rules to play against teams that aren't "sanctioned" by the state (could be any state like Michigan, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and West Virginia -- for example).

If they didn't do it this way, then high school teams could play against ANY club team or even an academy team. Exhibitions and reserve matches are fine, since there is nothing riding on those games. I remember playing high school club teams during exhibitions. I refereed a high school club v. a high school exhibition match this past fall. When my alma mater started a women's team (had to be 6-7 years ago) they couldn't play a full high school schedule. They could only play other clubs and reserve teams.

There has been hope that when the village gets its water situation straightened out the small brick building off the one end of the field would be removed and the field could be expanded a bit.
