After many requests, some Mapquesting... and a quick drive down to good ol' Shelby County to check the place out, I'm giving in...the Redskins are now part of my poll. Changed the D3 & D4 to 10 teams this week....too tough to cut it to just 5

Here we go....

D1 & D2

1. Toledo St Johns (6-2) Went 2-2 in California, one of the losses was to LA Westchester,...one of the Top Big schools in LA...for now, strength of schedule keeps them here.

2. Southview (8-0)...Wauseon at home next weekend

3. Toledo Whitmer (6-2)....lost in the Championship of a Florida tourney to one fo the top teams in Nashville

4. Elida (9-0) Big win on the road over the Spartans

5. Wauseon (9-0)....huge game at #3 Southview coming up on Saturday

Others (in no order) Shawnee, Toledo St. Francis, Toledo Start

D3 & D4

1. Ottawa-Glandorf (8-0)...ran out to a big lead then held off a pretty average Perrysburg team....should get back on track offensively this week at Bath and Bluffton

2. Versailles (8-0)....close win at Anna and a beatdown on pretty good Miami East team on Saturday. Big Game Tues Jan 9th when #4 Fort Loramie comes to town

3. Archbold (5-2) a 6-point loss to Wauseon and 5-point loss to OG, both on the road....Streaks stay at #3

4. Fort Loramie (9-0), ok, ok, the Redskins come in at #4....At Versailles on the 9th, home for Anna on the 12th then Thurgood Marshall at Flyin' to the Hoop. Brutal stretch coming up

5. Ottoville (9-2).....at 4-1 Minster on Saturday....then only a couple more challenges the rest of the way

6. Kalida (7-2)....a win at LCC and a win over Lincolnview get them in

7. Pandora Gilboa (7-1)....I know, I know, they beat Kalida...but no other good wins so far....Ottoville coming up

8. Cardinal Stritch (9-1)...weakest schedule of the ranked teams, but only loss to D1 Toledo Central Catholic at the Southview Tourney

9. Delphos St. Johns (5-3)....losses to unbeatens Versailles and Elida and 5-3 Crestview.....doesn't get any eaiser with Minster, LCC and Shawnee the next 2 weekends

10. Minster (4-1)....next 5 games....St. Johns, Ottoville, Coldwater, St Henry, Fort Loramie....9-1 or 8-2 after that stretch will move them way up

No "others" in D3 & D4 this week this week....this took too long. Going to decide if it's time to expand East and add Upper Sandusky....good chance they'll be around when it comes time for the D3 regional

Hey Charlie, looks like you might have a little more hoop insight than that frustrated baseball never was!

I am headed to see Wauseon/Southview...I expect Wauseon to pull it off. Did I see Stan Joplin is coaching Southview now?

I see St Johns and Wauseon as real threats to make it to Columbus. I would bump up Cardinal Stritch. They beat Cornerstone Christian and were ahead of Central until late in the 4th quarter. I would go OG, Archbold, Cardinal Stritch, and then Genoa for d3. Genoa was awful week 1, but may have had a football injury or two. Their scores have been dominant lately. They recently drilled Eastwood, who was picked to win the league and have had some nice scores lately. Liberty Benton has really struggled to start the season. It is crazy how times change.
I have OG going to state in D3.

I don’t see a dominant d4 team. I have heard good things about Fort Jennings. I expected Crestview to be the team this year, but it doesn’t seem to be working yet. McComb seems way down. I am not sure how that happened.

Flound,
Not so sure about us "exposing" the Green....by the end of the year O'ville could be the best in D4 in the area. I wonder about the coaching but the talent is there. PG is PG is PG....it's like we're the Cleveland Browns of the PCL...

I'm keeping an eye on Genoa...but putting them in the Top 10 right now would be a stretch. Hearing they have some "issues" up there...with some kids and parents not happy with how things are shaking out. Not convinced that a great record in that league means a lot. Lake's 20+ win teams from a 2013-2015 showed that. They were phenomenal in the regular season and had ridiculously athletic teams and really potent offenses but once the tourney hit, quick exits were the norm. Genoa offense hasn't shown the can put points up yet. Stritch will keep moving up if they keep winning. Cornerstone is up and down and had a couple kids missing the night they played Stritch.....and "almost" winning vs TCC doesn't count in my rankings :) Fort Jennings? Not at this point....there are too many 5-3 or 6-2 teams around right now to give the Muskies a whole lot of love.

chuckie......

As for FJ....they have some talent and finally a coach that knows a few things about basketball....young team, but if they come together they could be a tough bunch by tourney time......

Rocketman......you do know that Braidic is back....saw them play Kalida and I was impressed!!!!!

flounder, I agree with you most of the time but I saw the FJ preview for the season and I must admit that you consider seniors young. They are senior loaded and next year will be competing with Continental for the bottom of the PCL.

Sorry....I got a little carried away, but I believe they have a couple very talented sophs playing so to say they are senior laden isn't truthful also!!!!!

Flounder I’m with you on the part that I would rank PG over Ottoville now. But way too high? What game of Ottoville did you watch? Was it DSJ? Because if so that’s not a great sample. If Ottoville were to lose to PG I wouldn’t call that getting exposed either. You are making it sound like people are thinking Ottoville is a state caliber team which is definitely not the case.

Well FJ is always gonna be closer than it should because it’s a rivalry but FJ is not a bad team this year. And Ottoville had them down by 16 in the 3rd. It’s like I said before consistency and playing 4 quarters not 3 is the problem for them right now.

Sterio.....

Yes, I should have called, but going to a Ottioville game I had to keep a low profile....this baller dude might be looking for someone decked out in blue & gold.....anyway, I think old charlie has got some pretty good rankings out there....I love how he ranks teams in different divisions which is a more viable way of doing it without the controversy.....and I am sure he will fine tune these rankings each week....the thing good about ranking the divisions is that people will compare the rankings with the AP poll which will appear in the very near future.

Charlie,,,,,,
I know it will take more of your time to make out 4 divisions, but in doing so it will also increase the credibility of your polls,,,,,,many people will compare your polls with the AP polls and right or wrong you can explain why your polls are more accurate....creates a lot of banter among people which makes it more fun........good luck, and I think you are doing a fine job....at least I can talk to you in a civilized manner!!!!!!! :thumbup1: :thumbup1: :thumbup1:
