where will Rooney go??? Will he go to Man City and slap ManUre in the face? or will he Slap Everton in the face and go to Liverpool?

Mourinho said he will not buy Rooney come Jan. window but he is interested in him...

But doesn't this always happen at ManU? Once the player gets bigger than Sir Alex the player tends to fall out with the club.. Ruud, Beckham, Keane, ect..

Liverpool is a good guess since from what I heard the new owners are looking to spend a few pounds this winter. cool.gif

This Everton fan would've guessed...I'm sure no one remembers that he was famously "Once a Blue, Always a Blue." This is exactly the same song & dance crap he pulled when he walked out on Everton in 2004, the team that trained him, brought in to the league, umm, educated him (ok, the teacher in me had to say it). He gets back from an international tournament, tells his faithful Scottish manager that his ambitions aren't being met & his SCUMBAG agent oozes his way spinless little protozoic body through every crack to work a move. This, by the way is an agent so slimy that he was found guilty of breach of contract, couldn't be an agent for 9 months (SURPRISE, back last Feb & now Potato Face wants a move...) & that other sleazy agents DETEST...now that's something.

As for destinations...no way he'd EVER GO TO LIVERPOOL. He is still a Blue. His parents are Blue. Misguided yes, but the saying goes "Better dead than Red" and that will never happen, & the new Americans are rich, but nowhere near that rich (gonna cost around 50-60 million pounds, I reckon, plus it's rumored that he wants 250,000/ week...oh & to win trophies NOW & let's be honest, them Reds ain't winning anything soon). City & Chelski are the only 2 teams in England that could make that happen. I just can't see the SAF letting him go to hated City, might be just as bewildering as the LIverpool notion, except minus the much longer & glorious histories of both Everton & Liverpool (yes young ones, Everton used to be one of the Big Boys, City has spent much of its existence in the lower leagues while EFC & LFC is the only derby to have been entirley played in the top flight). So, I reckon it's off to Chelski blood money or Spain, with Madrid or Barca being the only possibilites. Inter? Never (the Fat Waiter & LFC connection yet again).

The most curious, and ludicris notion was Robbie "Smackhead" Fowler asserting that Potato Head's thinking about the joining him at Perth Glory in Ozzie Land...

Bill, I'm not sure if his return to the Grand Old Lady would ever work, even if he woke up & realized where he came from, what Mighty EFC could do with a proven goalscorer to go with that fantastic MF & overall team work ethic, oh & if he somehow paid his own transfer fee & decided to play for a mere 80 thousand pounds a week (almost 4 years of my salary in one week, not sure how anyone could slum it up for that miserly wage). Maybe if Duncan Ferguson threatened to fight him every week unless he moved back home. Now that's a thought, Potato Face & Duncan Disorderly standing toe-to-toe throwing hammers in Stanley Park...

It does sound like EFC will get 25% of any transfer fee over 25 million so maybe we can use that to buy Landon & bring him back where he is appreciated.

FrontRow, Payne, no thanks needed. I've been mad for English footy since arouond 1989 (history, players, you name it). I used to be resigned to Fanzines (Match & Shoot) sent to me from a friend playing 3rd Division ball in Germany in the late 80s-early 90s since there were NO 24 hour soccer channels in order to get my fix (and any thoughts of the internet were ridiculous). So anytime i get to wax poetic on my favorite obsession, sorry to my lovely wife, Ilet it go & I've never been accused of being short-winded...

I do hope that people would look past the wins & losses to see the stories behind the rivalries...it's much more than sports in America, hence my comment about Rooney going to the Reds. Never in a million years. I doubt most people know that the 2 clubs are only 1.5 miles apart from each other with almost 130 years of the most intense rivalry one could imagine (LFC was formed in 1890 I believe while Everton was one of the 6 original pro clubs & founding Football Association members in 1878...and the original inhabitant of Anfield but later left for nicer digs smile.gif ). And further, when Potato Face went to United he has played for the 2 teams most despised by Reds' fans worldwide.

So many great stories that have gone on behind the scenes, no move is ever really easy. I see that Potato Face may have had a change of heart but the Mancs aren't having it & he may be more despised than Steven Gerrard & Carlos Tevez combined right now. Almost certain that he has to go abroad now.

Wayne Rooney to stay with Man United
Updated: October 22, 2010, 8:38 AM ET

MANCHESTER, England -- Wayne Rooney agreed to a five-year contract with Manchester United on Friday, keeping him at the Premier League club until June 2015.

Rooney said this week that he did not intend to extend his deal beyond 2012 because he was unhappy that United hadn't improved its roster, but changed his mind after "intensive discussions" with the club.

"I'm delighted to sign another deal at United," Rooney said in a statement released by United. "In the last couple of days, I've talked to the manager and the owners and they've convinced me this is where I belong."

United manager Alex Ferguson said he was "delighted" Rooney had agreed to extend his contract.

"Sometimes, when you're in a club, it can be hard to realize just how big it is and it takes something like the events of the last few days to make you understand," Ferguson said in the statement. "I think Wayne now understands what a great club Manchester United is.

"It's been a difficult week, but ... I said to the boy that the door is always open."

The 24-year-old Rooney, who is sidelined with an ankle injury, said he is determined to get back in United supporters' favor.

"I'm sure the fans over the last week have felt let down by what they've read and seen. But my position was from concern over the future," Rooney said. "The fans have been brilliant with me since I arrived and it's up to me through my performances to win them over again."

Rooney joined United in 2004 for $41 million and helped the club to Premier League titles in 2007, '08 and '09.

Rooney reportedly fell out with Ferguson following allegations about the player's private life.

"I'm sure everyone involved with the club will now get behind Wayne and show him the support he needs to produce the performances we know he is capable of," Ferguson said.

I laughed this morning when I saw on the bottom news feed on Sports Center that Rooney signed a 5 year contract...

I saw his interview on sky sports this afternoon and to say the least wasn't that conviced that he really wanted to stay there..

When they showed Rooneys poster around the stadium I couldn't stop laughing because the fans spray painted on the poster " Go to city and You will die" haha
