Over the past several years the issue of "parental involvement" has really gotten into high
gear....so many coaches have either decided that it isn't worth the trouble with putting up
with the parents or the attitude of the players who listen to their parents...they've packed
their bags and headed for higher ground...

Both in boys and girls it seems to be getting a bit out of hand...now I haven't heard (yet)
where a parent has gone physical on a coach, it's only a matter of time I believe....and so
that brings me to the Continental situation that just recently has come to my attention...
A parent of a player entered into a verry verbal confrontation with the head coach....don't
know what it involved, but one can only guess......well, it seems that Continental is now
going to be looking for a head coach AND asst. coach after this altercation....

I guess more parents are becoming emboldened as they watch the successes of groups such as
the Posse at OG, the CC crowd at LCC, the naysayers down at Waynesfield Goshen, and can't forget
the worst of the bunch......my very own PG Rocket Boosters....

I'm embarrassed as heck to be from this town because of this. Not going to be good for a long time. I'm thinking about moving to Pandora to find some peace (or if you want to spell it piece, either one I will be happy) in my life. There's a lot of morons that think their little one is so good but the coach has ruined them. Why would anyone want to coach at any level, especially here. Don't forget that the school board is not squeaky clean either when it comes to our coaches. Hope one of them puts their name in for the job.

I don't know anything about the Continental situation, just know they've struggled for some time. I don't know where we go from here. We have parents who get more upset because their kid does not play in games than they do if their kid gets D in history.

It's too bad because high school sports are the best. But adults are ruining it.
The big thing that people need to understand is that you build from the youth level up. You have to have a dedicated parent or two in each class that knows what they’re doing. Work with kids on the fundamentals and when they get to 7th grade, you HAVE to step away and let the coaches coach. Too many of these parents feel they need to keep coaching as the kids move up the ranks. It creates too many hurt feelings and erodes the program.

Also, high school coaches have to communicate from day 1 that freshman/ JV is developmental, but varsity is all about winning. You have to communicate that with the parents and players. If you have a kid who’s going to pout of he’s not playing, you’re better off without him / her. Practice time IS playing time. Some kids roles is to get the starters ready to perform, that’s just part of it.

Ok, to give you some facts on the Continental girls coach. It was not parents that got the coach fired it was the coach himself that did that! At several different occasion the administration had conversation with the coach on belittling girls, the way he acts at games and the way he would speaks to the Ref. He also broke a Ohsaa rule by letting the jr. High girls scrimmage the high school. Big no no! Which he knew! No parent at anytime went into a locker room. So before you go blaming the town or the school please learn the facts! No one did this to the coach but him self!

Here's some facts. I've been to a lot of games and I've heard parents say they want to get rid of him. Let's just keep going through coaches. That's to bad and some are good friends of mine. I didn't know about the scrimmage thing. If true that is a problem that he's responsible for.

I'm sure the next coach will be better. I hope someone from the school board has some bulz and puts their name in. They seem to know everything and it's always the coaches fault when we lose.

Looks like we will be advertising for a new coach again. And shortly after that we'll be advertising for a new coach again. It's going to be a never ending thing for the Lady Pirate program.

Again, as I posted earlier, you need to build from the youth program up. If you have talent, people will want to coach. If you don't, you'll have someone inexperienced or someone who's not a very good coach. And also remember, there are not very many people even willing to coach girls sports. Just a fact folks.

I am looking for the Ottoville/DSJ score from tonight. Looks like Kalida will defeat Leipsic, ahead by 12 with less than a minute to go. Final 54-44 Kalida. Thank you....

Well I guess that the parents group is rallying...I
will stand behind my source if you don't mind though....and I didn't mention going into the locker room.......and excuse me for remembering the last 2 Conti coaches.....Homier & Spitnale...now those two could "yell" with the best...
