End of season conference tourney at neutral site.

WBL at Senior, GMC at Defiance College, NWC at ONU or Bluffton College.

Example with GMC is 8 teams. Play 4 on Saturday. 4 winners play the following Friday while the 4 losers play thursday night. Then the championship game on Saturday.

6 teams get 2 games and 2 get 3. If losing 1 game is a big deal then on saturday the 2 losers from thursday play 1st game saturday, 2 winners from thursday play 2nd saturday and the 2 losers from Friday play 3rd game.

if not at the end of season play it during winter break.

I think it could help make some money with the smaller crowds.

I just had this conversation with a friend of mine! The only problem with that is the same with football I THINK....you must have your schedule completely filled out BEFORE the season starts....but then again The Tip-Off at VW isn't and neither is the DC Holiday Classic....I absolutely love the idea...I think it should be ran like the Maui Invite...Round Robin play with the seeding going how LAST YEAR'S results played out...so if the GMC did this next year: WT v. Fairview, Edgerton v. Holgate, Hicksville v. Tinora, and Ayersville v. Antwerp in the first round. This would guarantee everybody 3/4 games and could take place during winter break and end on New Year Weekend.

So does the ACAC in Indiana. They hold their tourny at Memorial Coliseum in Ft. Wayne.

The answer for me is NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The last thing I want to see is the same teams beating each other up before the tournaments. For us O-G fans and the team March is what we play and watch for. This would absolutely ruin that. Your goal as a team is to try to make a tournament run for a state title not win a conference tournament which is by the way is like having rights to a dead cow that has turned into a carcass. That is what I love about high school sports. If you cannot get ready each and every week to play your conference foes during the season then thats too bad. This would also by the way not increase but decrease the interest in basketball in my eyes.

As a player I would like it. As a coach I might be reluctant. Probably less appealing to those conferences that play everyone twice in the regular season. You also have situations like the BVC where some of the games are so bad it would be difficult for everyone to endure.

Middle school teams/conferences do it.

I would think for much of the WBL (and other leagues are similar) that playing these teams, then turning around and playing them in a league tourney and then most of them playing in the same district state tournament would be too much. Not perhaps as big a deal for an OG who is smaller and been going north, but for an Elida for instance. Leagues that play everyone twice already could potentially meet the same team(s) 4 times in one season. I would think they would they would then eliminate their second round and use a league tournament in place of a second round.

I don' believe schools like OG, DSJ, LB,.... would want to give up the home games do this, but for some teams it might b a money maker.

Doesn't the league champion mean something......I feel that you play the entire season to win your league and think that means much more than winning a league tournament.......besides that, some teams could end up playing a rival 3 times if they catch them in tournament.....I also agree with Dakota....this format could decrease the interest in HS basketball......which I think might be at a all time low in some areas!!!!!!!

If held at the end of the season.....a coach may want to commit suicide if his star player became injured.....I feel the negatives are far more than the positives for this type of format!!!

Not a terrible idea, but still some issues...
Teams that play dual round robin,so now you add another potential matchup, and if you play in the same sectional / regional, you could play the same school 4 times in a season.
JV's,
Number of games? in an 8 team tournament, the teams that make it to the finals play 3 games the first round loser only plays 1.
