What are some of the big "rivalry" games for basketball in the area ( whether "formally recognized" as a rival or not)?

DSJ's biggest rivalries are LCC and Ottoville.

Ottoville-Fort Jennings have play 2 games a year for almost 100 years. It is a nice rivalry. Usually no hard feelings between the schools. I believe they have played about 250 games vs. each other. I could look it up. Ottoville-DSJ just started playing each other during the season about 10 years ago. They did not play for almost 40 yrs 69-2009?, only in tournaments.Ottoville-Kalida was more intense years ago.

I'll second that, from 2010-2015 the winner of this game in tournament went to state, save the 2011 OG team that lost in the regionals to Africentric. But going back much further these two teams have met twice a year and battled dating back to the 1970's and the series is nearly even, with OG holding a slight edge if I am not mistaken.

As far as WBL schools OG- Elida almost always having something on the line as well as a big game feel, many classic reg. season and tournament games between the 2 squads dating back to when Chris Adams began at Elida. OG owned that series but since Denny Thompson took over I believe Elida has won more games versus OG.

DSJ and Ottoville played their 90th game this year. Even though we didn't play regular season until 2013, between backyard neighbors it's still a big rivalry.

Fort Jennings didn't start playing basketball until 1940.

Ok Delphos guys.....not trying to start anything at all, but what’s the real story between DSJ and Jefferson not playing each other during the regular season in boys hoops and football? Just, as an outsider, wondered. Thanks!

Many of those years between 1940 to present you couldn't call it basketball.

A VERY contentious game in 1954 had a lot to do with basketball. I don't think anything is in the works.
Since you asked, after considerable discussion, DSJ and DJ will open the football season at Stadium Park starting 2021.

I believe it to be more of the "inter city" recruiting that has gone on in the past/present......

In recent years it's like girls basketball at DSJ, FJ, VW, MC, PG, and of course Continental. It's called basketball but in reality it's not basketball. James Naismith would be embarrassed looking at those games.

Crestview-Wayne Trace, so many moments over the years. Series tied at 28 wins each.

Tell me more. Why is it not basketball? Why just those teams? Why between 1940 and today is it "not basketball"?

In a nice way I'm trying to say that all of those teams suck at basketball. Even your Blue Jays suck. My Pirates suck. They all suck.

Ok, I will label it basketball but I must add the word bad in there. So it's bad basketball.

And by the way I could add many more teams to that list. Heck, I should just list the teams who don't suck. It won't take near as long.
