There are very few 7th graders that play midget. Almost all of them are too old.

It must be kindergarten redshirting :pickles:

I won't be surprised if the "tradition factor" makes a return appearance on an OHSAA ballot.

Isn't it true though that Minster, Marion Local, and Coldwater do not have a midget football program. Besides risking turning kids away from football what benefit does midget football bring a program. Players in midget typically are playing positions based on their size they are currently, not what they maybe in HS. Most midget players cannot truely execute fundamentals correctly because of the awkwardness of their size, and then put pads on them. I would think that the Jr. High coaches would have to spend a one to both years trying to correct all the bad habits they learned in midgets. That is, if what should happen the Jr. high coaches are there to keep players out, and to teach them the fundamentals, and start the terms for HS. Not runnning a offense and defense based on what they think will win, and make their Jr. High record look good, and I know this is happening at some schools too. So once the players finally make it through to HS, they have learned awhole lot habits that may not be what they HS staff's philosophy.

And humility
The head coach for Minster summed it up perfectly in his post-game interview...

I was sitting with a large group of Minster fans at the time and needless to say they were not happy with his comments.

I can't imagine what about his comments upset them. It's true that Minster didn't have a lot of talent, at least compared to other state-leve teams. The fact that heart won them a title should be a considered a great thing.

Not going into detail but last years senior parents didn't have very many kind words for the coach at the end of the season. I would hope, they now realize how ridiculous and how emotions can take over logical thinking!

As soon as I heard him say what he said, I thought many would take it the wrong way.

As a New Bremenite, I can't STAND the Wildcats. (Within reason. They're good people. It's just that it's Minster.) I thought the coaches comments were fantastic. I would love to have that fresh attitude in New Bremen. I think it's says even MORE about the team. What's so different between New Bremen and Minster? Is there THAT much more talent in Minster? Two towns that touch?! No. But there is definitely a mentality. There's more heart on the Minster football team than there is on New Bremen's. THAT'S the difference. That's what I want. Minster's coach is making really hard for this Cardinal to root against those Wildcats.

I'd rather shower at Penn State than root for Michigan.
