So he settled a lawsuit in 1990 at DSJ? And coached there another 8 years? Either DSJ is very lax (which I don't believe) or it was a nuisance settlement of something that didn't amount to much.

Not to gossip, but Vic messing with students was something people talked about, but never talked about in public. It went on for awhile. It was "handled" and he eventually left. He's a vile person and should be locked up. This has been going on for 30+ years. Think of all the people and the damage he's probably done to them

If true, then shame on 'the people' who didn't have the stones to do something about it. And considering how things turned out, it doesn't sound like it was 'handled' very well, if at all.

If it would have been handled properly the first time, he would have never made it to DSJ!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have no clue........the public school should have pursued it the right way and Vic would have been gone forever......whatdoyouknow.........nothing!!!!!!!!

And paperboy.......if you really want to dispute this and come down on DSJ.........bring it on!!!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely, it is the public school system who are known to hide issues of abuse and molestation of youth. NOT THE CATHOlIC CHURCH.

Thanks for the clarification.

Ooooh, an Internet Tough Guy, lol. My point was simply this: A case was settled in 1990 in which Whiting was accused of 'sexual contact with a 15-year old female student on several occasions in 1990, when he worked at St. John's' (http://www.bishop-ac...aimsAgainst.htm)

I said earlier in this thread that I didn't think DSJ was lax and it could have been a nuisance settlement, but then BlueJay chimed in that his actions were talked about before things were 'handled'. Given that he coached there until 1998 and there are now subsequent charges against him, it makes one wonder if things were really 'handled' as well as they should have been.

The guy is a creep, it wasn't handled at Delphos St. John's......mostly because transparency at private schools in cases like this tend to be non-existent ( as long as you are winning football games).

I am not a internet tough guy, but if you face me on the street....well, who knows......just the opposite, but when people rip on my alma mater, I take the same stance as all of you would.....hey, let's face it, the catholic church has been guilty of things the past few years that I am not proud of, but in true essence, so have many other organizations.....but, let's crucify the catholics.....sound familiar.....if Vic Whiting would have been disciplined properly, he would never have made it to DSJ......just remember folks....he was in a public school system where this first occurred and to be honest with you.....they dropped the ball.....if Meadowbrook would have handled it accordingly, he would have never been hired at DSJ.....do you agree....secondly, what went on at DSJ was bs.....ol Vic came in and turned around a program that was pathetic to say the least......winners seem to survive bad situations and Vic did survive.....only because the DSJ football fanatics stood behind him.....I didn't and many other DSJ faithful didn't, but guess what.......when you create a winning atmosphere, many things are pushed under the rug, plus how do you prove this if no one comes forward.......one other thing....Vic was very good at manipulation......and the sad thing about the whole story is that the girl that was involved in this whole scenario was made out to be the bad person.......just put yourselves in that position....I hope she has recovered, but who knows..........yes, Whiting's lawyers settled in court, and then the saga continues to Canal Fulton....which by the way is close to home for the Whitings........I really don't think he will survive this round, but who knows in today's America.......

As for 'whatdoiknow'.......it proves again that you know very little.....as I stated....if the public school system where the first offense happened would have handled it properly, Whiting would have never taught again!!!

And dhsdawg06......I know you haven't been around much, but when my friend Rocketman created this site he made it well known that mods would be able to give their opinion.......sorry....

And 'paperboy'.......I might have been a bit quick to jump down your throat......please accept my apologies!!!!!

And to my loyal friend and a very appreciative supporter to the Corner.....'Von' I thank you for understanding!!!!!!

It is very typical to blame the victim in cases like this, and I believe this was what happened back a few years at Delphos. Since this "trouble" seems to follow Mr. Whiting where ever he goes, there seems to be a big problem with continuing to blame the victims.
