Marion Local sophomore QB Adam Bertke was featured in an article on the front page of Ohio State's scout website. I thought it was really cool to see a small-school guy get good looks like that. Bertke sure does have a lot of talent and great mechanics. Would be really cool to see him make it big at the next level! Here's the link and the article: http://ohiostate.sco.../2/1166835.html

Marion High (Ohio) sophomore QB Adam Bertke is on his way to being a Division-1 prospect.

Those who follow recruiting in the Midwest should remember the name Adam Bertke, currently considered one of the top class of 2014 quarterbacks in Ohio and an outstanding all around athlete.
"I'm about 6'5 and 195-lbs," he said. "I play basketball and baseball too. We just got done with basketball. We lost in the 1st Round."
Last year did not begin the easy way for Bertke, having to earn a starting role and prove himself after a shaky start.
"This was my first year on varsity. I played JV my freshman year. The beginning was a little shaky at the beginning of two-a-days. The starting job was between me and a senior and I ended up beating him out, got the starting role, and the first game was a little rough. I threw interceptions, but I bounced back. The coaches coached me up, we had a good running back and I got more relaxed as the season went on. By the playoffs, I was playing good football."
Bertke finished the season with 2,300 yards and 27 touchdowns. After throwing three picks in the first game, he only threw five the rest of the season. His play has earned him early interest from some prominent programs.
"I've gotten questionnaires and camps invites, so it's pretty exciting. I've heard fromIowa, Iowa State, one from Michigan State and I got some invitations from Michigan State and Ohio State to their camps."
Being an Ohio kid, the Buckeyes are a school Bertke hopes to hear more from and he plans to show them what he can do in person this summer.
"Growing up, I liked Ohio State. I liked the Buckeyes. I'm going up there in June to the two day camp."
By then, he hopes to begin improving on many of the things he intends to work on by the start of next season.
"Yeah, I'm trying to increase my speed a little bit and just reading coverages, because I know going from high school to college, that's a big step, as far as reading defensive schemes."
