According to the OHSAA: Girl’s participation in the state tournament reached 507 teams this year. The magic number of 501 has been reached according to Sports Regulation 13.2. The regulation does state that the number must be maintained for two years before an additional division is created. The OSSCA will propose, with the approval of its membership, to waive the two year period and move directly to three divisions starting in 2011. This is not a guarantee and it must be approved by the Board of Directors. A proposal will be made in February and a vote on the proposals will take place in April.

Its my understanding that if the OSSCA members approve it, the request will be made for OHSAA to vote on the proposal in April.

They are going to talk about going to 3 divisions early at OHSAA board meeting tomorrow. Vote April 7th.
