I'd agree with that based on his time at Bath, Grove, and LCC. He tends to get flustered when pushed and that's also one reason they have had such a struggle with DSJ in past years despite having more talent. Even this year, they couldn't pull away from DSJ in a game where both teams played sloppy. Schulte is a better coach than Cooper. At Grove, there were also numerous games where he came close to choking them away because he gets overly prideful and can't settle for a TD win and will try to punch one in late not to secure a victory, but to protect his ego. They had a few games where their run based offense would lob one deep to try to get an extra TD in before time expired in closer than expected games and it would get picked off. One game it almost bit him in the arse and was almost returned for a TD. The guy is a self absorbed psychopath.

jeffcat-bucki,
Since you would have everyone believe that you know more about coaching football than Coach Cooper plus you have
diagnosed him as a "self absorbed psychopath" among other things, I think it's only fitting that you put on your
big boy pants, step from behind the safety of your monitor, and discuss your feelings with him in person. He's
not a difficult person to get in touch with. I'm sure he would appreciate your feedback on his career. Be sure to bring along
your coaching resume and a copy of your thesis on personality disorders within the high school coaching ranks. . . .they
should make great ice-breakers in your meeting.

Ada is smaller though and even if you are not a believer in "recruiting" at LCC, LCC has a talent pool the size of Lima(and abroad)...Ada does not. You don't see Ada's track team or basketball teams doing much of significance because they simply don't have those athletes there.

Not meaning to argue with you or your nephew. Your nephew obviously had his own experience with Coach Cooper on which to base an opinion. That said, as someone who played for Cooper, I never noticed this trend of panic. If anything, I thought he was too stubborn in not changing his game plan when things weren't going well.
Additionally, if anyone watched all of Coop's games over the years, they'd notice that his teams will often run a trick play if they're up a few scores against a "lesser" opponent. Most people (and certainly everyone on here) sees that as Coop being an A-hole. In reality, he does it so that teams see it on film and have to prepare for it. That's just me giving an example of people reading too much (or not enough) into actions.
I'm not saying Coop isn't an A-hole, he is. I've heard him say numerous times that he only cares what the people in the locker room think about him. With this attitude, chances are you're going to come off looking like an A-hole to people outside of the community.
Quick question: Do you guys consider Jim Harbaugh (49ers) to be a good coach? I'm obviously not trying to compare the two because Harbaugh is an NFL coach and Coop is a DV high school coach. That said, Harbaugh inherited a roster of great players (Patrick Willis, Frank Gore, Vernon Davis, etc.) and turned them from 6-10 to 13-3 and best defense in the league. He also suffers from the same condition (being an A-hole) as Coop.

While similar, I wouldn't compare the two in terms of having mutual interests. The other problem is it's a pro coach. Almost all the pro coaches are characters in some form or fashion.

Flounder-I agree with most of what you posted about coaching... some can be "not very likable" but that might be what makes them successful...

I don't think he is a bad coach. I think he is just vastly overrated and his W's are not what is indicative of what his coaching ability. I would have loved to see what kind of record he would have pulled post Maag era at Grove. It would have been no better and probably even worse than Palte.
