Well everyone, here we are again. New year, same story

D5: Coldwater - 7-0, will be MAC champs, have not been challenged in the slightest before Marion Local

D6: Marion Local, St. Henry - ML obviously the favorite to do the impossible: five state championships in a row

D7: Minster, Ft. Recovery - both teams, along with McComb, seem to be the cream of the crop in this division. Will Minster repeat? Will FR win their first state championship? Will McComb finally hoist the trophy? Or will another team win it all?

McComb won the D5 title in 1983. It's quite possible some of today's Panthers are the sons of those championship Panthers.

Yes I know. I put finally in there because McComb has been to numerous regional finals since then and almost beat ML in the state semifinals in 2013. They are due for a championship

I think McComb is the favorite in D7. Despite ML's game with coldwater I don't see them as a dominant favorite in D6 as in past years. D6 has quite a few unknowns so far. Coldwater is a heavy favorite in D5, unless somebody is out there that I'm not aware of. If they run into somebody with an incredible pass defense, that's about their only shot at a L.

Marion Local loses a nail biter 22-20. That late long TD run by Kirtland was a deal breaker.

I know it's extremely early buuuuuut Coldwater, ML, FR and DSJ are all capable of hoisting the trophy this year

Coldwater should cruise in D5 barring any key injuries
ML's competition will be Mechanicsburg and Kirtland
D7 will come down to FR, McComb or DSJ

I would be surprised if coldwater won state this year. Their team this year is a far stretch from last year's team and wheelersburg is improved from last year. Marion local will be in the hunt in D6 but mechanicsburg is also improved this year and kirtland is still looming.

D7 is for the taking for the MAC though. Covington looks like they might actually be able to make an interesting game for somebody though. I don't know a whole lot about SCC, but they have been having a good season. I've heard a lot of talk about mogadore, but i've seen how that's gone before.

Covington fans have actually said this team isn't to be compared to their other recent teams as they need a lot of work.

Could be. I haven't seen covington yet. They seemed to handily beat st henry though st henry is still an unknown as they haven't played anybody yet.

Marion Local did not win last year. Lost in championship game. Ft. Recovery lost QB, will be back in another week. They are loaded.

You lie like a dog BJ.

One (1) Covington fan said they were not as good as the 2013 Covington team that took Marion Local to the wire. And they aren't.....yet. They are still learning a new offense and new defense this season with a new coach. Give them a couple more games......

Other than that team this is the best Covington team in 3 decades. Much improved since last season....and with a passing game now to boot.

Of course you're the same gal that said DSJ is "back" as in back to the same caliber of DSJ team as the 2005 Blue Jays, because they beat a Minster team that lost 20+ kids to graduation. :punk:

Covington did handle a quality St Henry team in week #1. But according to BJ St Henry's team is (he said before they stomped NB) the worse team in the MAC this season.
