Who are the contenders? I look for Ottoville and Miller City to be at the top. Who's gonna do it? Am I missing something? I see where Pandora beat Kalida last night. Thoughts?

I'll copy my response from the other thread...although O'ville has three wins already, a loss to Cory Rawson makes u wonder:

PCL will be wide open again...throw all the names in a hat, if you didn't pull out FJ or Oville, you have a chance to win it. MC, Continental & PG should be at the top but none will wow you. Winner will have at least one loss in the league. MC has an unfavorable schedule this year, having to travel to PG, Cont, Kalida & CG for league games.

PCL fans, when do you think the league peaked, or was at its best? 70's? Early 80's? I just remember when the league was so good top to bottom. Great shooters, great coaching, lots and lots of great crowds

I think Leipsic is going to be a force to deal with in the PCL and should be a favorite to win the league.

Kalida had some very talented teams in the late 70's thru the 80's. They pretty much dominated the league. Ottoville, Continental and Miller City also had some solid teams. They were definitely the best small school conference in NW OH during that period. In recent years the players just aren't as good.

Agreed, the past several years the PCL has been mired in mediocrity. From 2000-2013 was a nice stretch of talent coming through the PCL, beginning with Ft. jennings state title in 2000 and FJ regional finals in 2004, followed by some great Ottoville teams that could never quite get past districts. Continental had a nice run in the 2002-07 era (state in '05), Columbus Grove went to state in '06, Kalida' state finals in '09 and ending with Leipsic in the state finals in 2013......and yes, in the 70's, 80's and 90's the PCL featured some of the best small school basketball and hoops atmospheres in the NW Ohio.

As for this year, I think it will be a battle of the Putnam County North schools residing on St. Rt. 613. Leipsic, Miller City and Continental.

Good to hear about the Big Green. Miller City of s off to a 3-1 start.....looked good when I saw them. They host an undefeated Crestview team tonight. Should be a good one!

Crestview is just not very good right now. I'd say overrated coming in with high expectations. Just don't have it this year for some reason.

Wayne Trace goes into Miller City and puts a 72-53 win on a good Wildcat team at their place!
