A more accurate account (of names) is in today's Lima News. The hype lived up to the expectations that everyone had. As discussed several times it came down to falls and bonus points. Personally, the falls at 126 & 132 were not a surprise. Bath's 285 getting pinned with 3 seconds left in the match was critical. Those points loomed large. Overall, two evenly matched squads that show promise for several years to come. Wapak will finally have some challenges in the future.

Heard second hand that there were some good matches last evening in Celina. Highlights include:

Ingram from Bath picking up 100th career win.
Bath team steps up after being down 6 starters - 106, 113, 145, 152, 195, 220 and holding off a good St. Mary's and Celina squad.
Blaiin Hunter from Elida holds off Garrett Hower from St. Mary's in a close one 5-4. Probably the preview of WBL 113 championship.
Tyler Smith looking like old and dominating Knous with a 1st period fall. Look out Smith is BACK!!!
Rabley records a fall over a ranked Miller from Celina.
Neal records a fall over a ranked Wade from Celina.
Rudasill wrestles up a weight and records wins over Knous & Roark.

Defiance 9-0; Bath 8-1; Wapakoneta 7-2 in dual portion of WBL. Tournament is February 1 in Kenton. Seems that Bath and Defiance have injury issues and Wapakoneta is getting healthy. Should be an interesting tournament next weekend. Defiance and Bath have worked through challenges so far, but it may be Wapak's turn to finish on top. If Wapak's wins, the battle for second is the battle for the league.

Having watched several of these teams overcome adversity this year with creative line-up adjustments and excellent performances by non-starters, I am looking forward to the WBL for a several reasons:

1. Reading previous posts and seeing earlier match results, I am interested to see how Bath, Defiance and Wapak deal with their late season cahllenges. What line-ups will each team be able to put forth? Any intereting decisions by coaches?
2. Will any surprise wrestlers appear for teams, such as Copeland for Wapak? Great JH wrestler that has not been seen much if at all this year for Wapak; he could be a difference-maker. Results from Defiance showed the younger Chavez finally making an appearance, but at a higher weight than expected; will he wrestle at WBL? Davis from Bath - truly out for season?
3. Although the top 3 should dominate, what team is the spoiler? Shawnee has several great kids, Celina appears to be improving, St. Marys will wrestle hard and pull some surprises.
4. Dual teams are not always great tournament teams. If memory serves me well, more than once in the last many years, Wapak won the WBL tournament after losing duals during the regular season. Can they pull that off again?

Overall, should be very compelling wrestling, with every match possibly having impact on league title.

Looking at state dual results from last night, some interesting developments accurred, espescially with Bath. Wheeler shows at 132 & Lowe is missing. Wheeler move is probably a push point wise for them at WBL, but no Lowe is a serious blow to Bath. Is that long-term, or will he be back for WBL?

Wapak line-up showed without Huffman last night. Same question - no Huffman has to hurt at least a little.

Defiance not a participant last night, so no indication if they are getting wrestlers back or not.

WBL league meet Saturday should be most interesting between these three competitors.
